It's National Adoption Week, could you help give a child the best start in life?

You cannot tackle the prison drug crisis by focusing on supply alone while ignoring the conditions that drive demand. Where meaningful activity, hope and support are lacking, the drug trade exploits these unmet needs, filling the hours and turning human desperation into a market.

Antisemitism and racism have no place in our town halls' 🌹
Maybe if Farrage mixed with less people from Eton/Oxford he would know that people from all backgrounds are perfectly able to go through life without saying racist / misogynistic
things.

You will hear nothing from the CEO of HMPPS or any senior official in charge of this farcical gamble with public safety. Total invisibility, zero accountability. Absolutely foreseeable that a stressed service would go 'safety first' on offenders they aren't equipped to monitor.

The Crown Court backlog is “under control” - says Criminal Bar Association chair Andrew Thomas on @LBC.
I’m sorry that is criminal.
The backlog is 80,000 - double what it was 7 years ago - and rising. Only radical structural change will bring it down, allied to extra funding.

OTD in 1908, Margaret Travers Symons, who worked as the secretary to Keir Hardie, became the first woman to speak in the House of Commons chamber.
She rushed directly onto the floor of the Commons and shouted: "Drop your discussion of the unemployed and give votes to women!"

When I met Angela Rayner to campaign for change to overly aggressive council tax debt collection, with its unprecedented rapid escalation to balliffs, she nodded like most politicians do.
I explained it was destructive for individuals, councils and the economy. She listened more then said she'd change it. I was sceptical. Yet a consultation was launched within weeks and delightfully the change announced within 18mths (its in place from next April) - bullet train pace for politics.
I've a rule that if I campaign for a politician (of any party) to do something, and they do it, I say thank you. Its important to recognise it. So thank you so much Angela Rayner for listening and more importantly acting. The changes coming are a great start.
I promised we'd make council tax fairer, and I’m getting on with the job.
Too many working people have seen council tax debt spiral before they had the chance to get help.
That's why we're introducing more time to pay, clearer warnings if you miss a payment and more support from councils.
Thanks to @MartinSLewis and @mmhpi for their tireless campaigning to make this change happen.
