The best AI fits into the way people already work. For drivers, that means voice. Samsara's @brendanodris joined @FreightWaves to discuss how Agent Studio is bringing real-time support, automated coaching, and smarter workflows to fleets. Watch the full interview: youtube.com/watch?v=UrUAI8E_…

Samsara's @brendanodris reveals why voice AI agents are already massively outpacing chat agents in real-world operations, where workers can't stop to type prompts: "The big insight is that voice is the new UI for these agentic workflows. Imagine drivers driving trucks, they can’t use their hands. It doesn’t really make sense to sit and wait behind a prompt in a chat interface." "Since we’ve launched both, we’ve seen the voice agents just massively accelerate and outpace the chat agents." "We can meet the customer where they are in the way that’s easiest for them. For us, that’s voice." @Samsara

Samsara's @brendanodris explains why the AI revolution looks different outside the San Francisco bubble, where it's about helping truck drivers get home safely, not booking concert tickets: "The vehicle is a means to an end. Whether it’s an agent, whether it’s an assistant, whatever the form, that’s just a means to an end." "For me, it’s about a driver who’s pulled over on the side of a road and they need to know where they should pull in because they’re approaching their limit." "Whether that’s a voice agent or not, who cares? They have an issue. They need a solution. ‘I’ve got 10 minutes of driving time left. Where do I pull in that’s safe?’ It’s dark. It’s late." "This isn’t AI for AI’s sake, like book me a concert ticket. This is really, how do I get home at nighttime? Make sure that I’m wearing my seatbelt, no harsh braking, that I’m not using my phone." "There’s a certain extra privilege that we get that we’re actually getting more people home at nighttime. And that’s a fun thing to work on." @Samsara

When designing driver-centric benefit programs, telematics providers often assume that truck drivers prioritize roadside convenience perks above all else. Kelly Soderlund, Head of Insights at Samsara, shares surprising user feedback from the newly launched Samsara Driver Perks platform. While fleets expected high demand for standard roadside convenience discounts, professional drivers requested lifestyle, health, and entertainment benefits that support their life off the road—including gym memberships, Audible audiobooks, family travel discounts, and even portable grilling gear.

There’s a lot of dedication behind every mile: checking equipment, watching the weather, finding the right dock, handling traffic, and staying sharp through a long day on the road. Happy National Truckers Appreciation Day to the drivers who make it happen.

Ben Affleck: alright, gather round, so you'll want to freeze the base weights first, learning rate 2e-4
Ben Affleck (Hollywood star & Artists Equity CEO) talks about how he fine-tunes open video models by unfreezing weights and trained only the last cinematic layer so a film crew can hit real production standards. for context, Ben Affleck founded InterPositive in 2022, a 16-person AI shop for film post and Netflix bought it in March 2026 for $587 mn in cash. He needed that model because public video models were trained on his peers' films, and he did not think that was a real business. So InterPositive raised money, shot its own dataset for 8 months on a controlled stage, and used it only as late-stage training. Each new film then trains a private model on its own dailies, so the production keeps the footage and the learning. That is the product Netflix paid $587 million for. ---- From "Bloomberg Live" YouTube channel, (link in comment)

Samsara Opens Fleet Data to ChatGPT, Claude and Other AI Tools Samsara is giving AI assistants a new way to work with real operational data. Its newly generally available Samsara MCP lets compatible AI clients including ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot and Cursor query Samsara data through the Model Context Protocol. The current catalog includes 44 approved read-only queries covering areas such as vehicles, drivers, safety, compliance, routes and fuel. The important boundary is what these AI tools cannot do. Access follows the user's existing Samsara permissions, and the current MCP implementation is read-only. It cannot change settings, send messages or make assignments in Samsara. That makes this less about handing fleet operations over to AI and more about giving AI assistants a standardized interface for retrieving operational context. Samsara also continues to position its REST API for integrations and large-scale data movement, while MCP is aimed at conversational and agent-driven workflows. The broader significance is the interface: AI assistants can now sit closer to enterprise operational data without automatically receiving authority to change the underlying system. #AI #MCP
