One of my favorite cold-weather meals right here. Yes, I know it’s called SOS, and yes, I know some people make it with ground beef. We didn’t. My mom always made ours with chipped beef in cream gravy poured over toast.
There was just something about eating this on a cold winter morning before heading off to school. Hot, filling, cheap, and stuck to your ribs long enough to get you through the morning. And before anybody tells me what SOS really stands for, trust me, I know. I was a Marine. I still love the stuff.
Some meals don’t need to be fancy. They just need to taste like home.

Scientists in China have reported a remarkable result: a woman with Type 1 diabetes became insulin-independent after receiving insulin-producing cells made from her own reprogrammed cells.
Researchers turned her cells into stem cells, developed them into insulin-producing beta cells, and transplanted them into her body.
About 75 days later, she no longer needed insulin injections.
But this is not yet a cure. The study involved only three patients, and researchers need much longer follow-up to know how safe and lasting the effect will be.
Still, the result offers a fascinating possibility: replacing the cells damaged by diabetes instead of relying on insulin injections for life.

In the name of racial justice, California Democrats limit who can be pulled over
“The Los Angeles City Council just ruled that the LAPD is no longer allowed to pull people over if they have expired tags, non-functioning taillights, a cracked windshield, broken sideview mirrors, an illegal tint, a loud exhaust, or missing license plates.
What reason, might you ask, that they have for doing this? Well, they said, quote, ‘it disproportionately affects Black and brown motorists.’ These are the LA City Council members, by the way”
I verified this and it passed UNANIMOUSLY with Democrats, all 14 Democrat City Council members passed it
They voted to restrict “pretextual” stops, meaning cases where an officer uses a minor vehicle-code violation as the legal reason to stop someone in order to look for something like guns, drugs, warrants, etc
But of course now this can be used to just not pull people over because of their skin color, meanwhile I’m sure white people will be pulled over more than ever
