The Data Management Association (DAMA) Kenya Chapter has been officially launched in Nairobi as an affiliate of DAMA International, creating a national body for data professionals, with a plan to train over 10,000 data professionals in three years through a partnership with Pathways International. The chapter has enrolled more than 900 members and 15 corporate partners, and aims to set professional standards, promote certification and support research. Executive President Hartnell Ndungi said the goal is to make Kenya a leader in responsible, trusted data management, while Deputy Data Commissioner Emmanuel Maiyo said the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner welcomes initiatives that build professional capacity and a culture of privacy.

One myth people working in cloud perpetuate is that their jobs are immune to AI. Cloud & infrastructure work can be automated just as SE. We reduced our cloud & infra team from 2 to 1, & our software engineering team from 7 to 5. Be the human that approves AI, thats the job now.

Working for international organization is all hippie happy until the furlough begins, this same feeling is what folks at USAID Kenya felt during their terminations. Brutal way to reset in life
I hate to imagine what my friends at ADC are feeling. I got laid off at 6AM with zero warning. Within an hour, all access was revoked. I took 3 months off to process what happened:/ That experience made me swear I’d never work for big tech again. My heart goes out to them.

You know very well it's not the tax issues thus please be responsible & desist from lies
One of the most consequential IT companies is winding up operations due to the nasty unpredictable tax regime we have in place. We have lost a superb FDI. 😡🤬

Apology should be as loud 🔊 as your insults, private apology for public insults don't work big boy. Chest for chest, aura for aura mzee
I want to offer an apology to the people of Nairobi, Kenya. The passion you have your city and homeland is amazing… We all make mistakes. I misspoke, and I am sorry to anyone I have offended.🙌

Sales is a brutal career & unlike tech or it's alied career line one gets to be on PiP perpetually, one time a chap who had exited the who's who of industry as director to a startup went on PiP mark you he's a c suite commercial head. Man's just exited to take up roles elsewhere
Microsoft is closing its Africa Development Centre (ADC) in Nairobi, Kenya, ending its engineering operations there. Note: - Employees were informed of the closure on *Monday, Oct 12, 2026* as part of Microsoft's global restructuring. - The move follows the earlier closure of the Lagos ADC in 2024. - On the same day, Microsoft execs led by Jeff Bullwinkel met with ICT CS William Kabogo. Kabogo said he stressed retaining local talent, protecting jobs, and sustaining investor confidence. - Microsoft spokesperson said the changes impacted the engineering department but the company will continue operating in Kenya and supporting customers. - The government and Microsoft are expected to develop a joint action plan on AI adoption, digitization of government services, cybersecurity, and digital skills. What's your take?

Commiserations to these jobless engineers but they'd better harden up polish their loss & dive in back into the deep end before they're wiped out the talent pool quadrant, the bloodbath due to Ai is huge across industries not just Tech

Hahaaa adobe makes tears on end subscription day 😂😂😂 they better be happy mamdani is only in new York and not worldwide
Cancelling a subscription shouldn't be this hard. If you can sign up with a click, you must be able to cancel with one. Head to nyc.gov/click-to-cancel to file a complaint against any business that makes it hard to cancel a subscription.

Once told of this story, to appease the anger of kenyans & play mental games on the electorate after bungling the 2007 election kibaki acquiesced to a free cheque book for Parliament. The leash for the hounds of hell were unshackled that day. Never been reigned since.
Do you understand which company we are talking about??

Every parliament since then has never reversed their thirst for public resources greed & looting. Kicking the can down the road for a political problem is here today. Ballooning public salaries choke the exchequer payments
