Starmer U-turns (again!) on his promise to stay as an MP to resign on the day Burnham makes his 1st Parliamentary address as PM. When someone shows u who they are (again!) believe them.

Why do we remember Srebrenica? 8,372 reasons. In 1995, 8,372 men and boys were killed in the Srebrenica genocide. Srebrenica Memorial Day reminds us to learn the lessons of the past and reject hatred in all its forms.

As the burials and commemorations at Srebrenica conclude, the orgy of genocide glorification by local Serb extremists begins. As it does every year. And yet this lone barge, struggling along the placid Drina, whose bed is still lined with the bodies of murdered Bosniaks, neatly encapsulates how pathetic their entire enterprise has become. An impoverished, shrinking Serb populace, still governed by slack jawed brigands like Milorad Dodik, remains trapped in the sins of their past and current leaders. Unable or unwilling to take the moral off-ramps offered to them by their Bosniak neighbors who say only “come, grieve with us”. But they ignore their pleas, they ignore the invocation of Scripture to seek forgiveness. And instead they self-medicate with the delusions that anyone is still hurt or frightened by their guttural, drunken yodeling. Twice in the 20th century, Serb extremists attempted to exterminate the Bosniak people; in the 1940s and 1990s. Both times they failed. Because the Bosniak people will not be driven from their ancestral hearths. Nor have they ever sought the displacement of their Serb or Croat neighbors either. They have sought only to be left in peace, to raise their kin, to till their lands, and to sing their songs, songs of love and longing. Bosnia is a beautiful little country, with plenty, plenty of room for all of its myriad, wonderful peoples. But not an inch of its rugged turf will long accommodate those with hatred in their hearts. So, chug along little barge. These waters will carry you away yet.
“Srebrenice, ti si nama mila, Dabogda se triput ponovila”. Ovo su stihovi pjesme koja je danas puštana na splavu koji je, netom nakon obiljažavanja godišnjice genocida u Srebrenici, plovio Zvorničkim jezerom (Rijeka Drina). (Izvor: Podrinjemedia) Ovom pjesmom veliča se genocid nad Bošnjacima počinjen 1995. godine u zaštičenoj zoni UN-a.

July 11, 1995 Today, we remember the 8,372 Bosniak men and boys murdered in the genocide at Srebrenica. They were not statistics. They had names. Families. Dreams. Futures that were stolen. More than three decades later, mothers are still burying sons whose remains continue to be identified from mass graves. Some families have waited decades simply to lay a few recovered bones to rest. Memory is not vengeance. Memory is justice. Memory is the promise that those who were murdered will never be erased, and that those who survived will never stand alone. We remember because forgetting is the final victory of genocide. We remember because denial is its final chapter. Today, Bosnia stands still. We say their names. We carry their memory. Never forgotten. Never denied. Srebrenica. 11 July 1995. #Srebrenica #NeverForget #Bosnia #BosniaAndHerzegovina #RememberSrebrenica #Genocide #History #BosnianHistory

Today, on July 11, we observe the global day of commemoration of the Srebrenica Genocide, perpetrated by Belgrade’s proxy Serb nationalist forces in July 1995. Myself and many other Bosnian scholars and activists, and above all the team at the @SrebrenicaMC, have written extensively on the subject. As such allow me only a few brief points: 1. The Srebrenica Genocide was only one of the final, most horrific episodes of a broader Bosnian Genocide, perpetrated by said Serb nationalist forces between 1992 and 1995 against the country’s majority Bosniak community. 2. It is necessary to mourn and commemorate July 11 but in terms of contemporary Bosnian politics it is certainly not sufficient. The fundamental question raised by the Bosnian Genocide is the future of Bosnia, its sectarian constitutional regime, and the matter of reversing the political and social consequences of the genocide. Anyone unwilling to seriously engage with that question is not serious about genuinely mourning the victims of the genocide either. 3. The politics which animated the Bosnian Genocide remain active, indeed ascendant, in particular since 2024. Truly honoring the victims of Srebrenica and Bosnia means speaking clearly and directly about sanctions against the secessionist regime in Banja Luka, and other meaningful punitive measures against Dodik and his clique, including his broader network of allies in Belgrade, Moscow, Zagreb, and elsewhere. The rest is but deafening silence.

Bosnian men trying to escape from #Srebrenica took shelter in the mountains, but they were easily caught and killed thanks to the heavy weapons of the Serbs. Thousands were executed or died attempting to flee.

If you ever have a horrible boss of this sort, who covers his arse and shifts the blame onto a junior, I'll tell you, you never forget it. I think the rage at Starmer felt so personal because it woke a million personal memories of injustice and pig ignorance.

What one observed, however, was a classic horrible boss, who appeared to be ordering underlings to do something and then, when a terrible decision , ably carried out, blew up as a disaster, he blamed them up to and including getting them sacked. (Ollie Robins).

A lot of discussion today about why Starmer is so loathed by the general population. I think it's because he came across as a hypocrite in a particular specific instance. He repeatedly declared himself as a decent, honourable, etc man.

In an all my years covering politics I have never met anyone so lacking in interest in the skills a leader needs - the ability to tell a story; to listen to colleagues; to woo, persuade & chivvy. Keir Starmer isn’t just uninterested in these requirements of the job. He is dismissive & contemptuous of them. @AndrewMarr9 sums this up in the @NewStatesman rather more memorably than I could …

Starmer’s final u-turn. Time will tell whether it’s his most beneficial for the UK. What is undeniable is that there is a chance for a re-set now. Fingers crossed.

“The people expect us to focus on what’s important to them” - from every minister on tv. Correct. The by-election shows what’s important to them is not having Starmer as PM. @UKLabour must listen.

Some say ‘give him/her a chance’ whether about Streeting or whoever. This is about being PM, not starting a paper round. Can we have someone who has actually achieved something, other than for themselves.

Just what on earth gives Wes Streeting the belief he is deserving, or capable, of being PM? He has done nothing in his life, other than seek his own promotion. What have we come to.

This, perhaps, is how Keir Starmer survives...
Thoughts from a Labour MP: “We have to face up to the fact every single one of them is fucking useless. Andy’s strategy has been a disaster. Angela bottled it. Ed clearly a hiding to nothing. Wes AWOL. God knows what Catherine West is doing. Not quite sure how we ended up here.”

Zack Polanski has claimed "two-party politics is dead", while also saying "the new politics is the Green Party versus Reform", an odd numerical mistake for someone who has 'Head of Quantum Mathematics at NASA' on their CV

Leadership is a complex concept subject to many theories. All agree however, a leader requires followers, it requires belief in the leader. If this isn’t established early it doesn’t happen. Starmer missed his chance. The UK needs a leader.

It seems the Green Party now host Corbynista entryists, Galloway’s cultists & Islamists without a ‘mainstream’ political home. It should be shown for what it is and rejected as @ZackPolanski disingenuously tries to hold it together.

Just caught up on @TrevorPTweets interview with @ZackPolanski . What a charlatan. Angry at challenged on wooing Islamist votes, talking in slogans and resistant to acceptance of danger to Jews. He is being used as much as he is a user. Dangerous.
