Today, we celebrate Ukrainian-Canadian Heritage Day and honour the remarkable legacy of Ukrainian-Albertans. For more than 130 years, their hard work, resilience and community spirit have helped shape Alberta's identity and contributed to the strength and success of our province. As Ukraine continues to defend its sovereignty and independence, Alberta remains steadfast in its support for the Ukrainian people and their pursuit a lasting peace. Slava Ukraini!

Alberta’s creative talent continues to shine on the world stage. Congratulations to Edmonton-raised stunt performer Devyn Dalton @devyndalton, whose work as Matt Damon’s stunt double in The Odyssey is earning international attention. Selected for the role in part because of her small stature, Devyn helped bring the film’s practical visual effects to life in scenes where Damon’s character needed to appear much smaller beside some towering opponents. Her work highlights the expertise, athleticism and precision that stunt performers bring to major productions, while also showcasing the growing impact stunt women are making in Hollywood. Devyn's success is a testament to the skill, determination and creativity of Alberta's artists and performers, and we're proud to celebrate an Albertan making her mark in one of the biggest movies of the summer!

It was wonderful to attend ShowCanada’s Opening Night Awards Dinner in Banff last week as we celebrated their 40th anniversary! ShowCanada continues to bring together leaders from across the Canadian and U.S. film exhibition and distribution industry to strengthen industry connections and showcase the future of entertainment. There is no better place to celebrate than Banff, where storytelling truly comes to life in person and on screen. Our government is proud to support the continued growth of Alberta’s film and television industry, including through an $8 million investment in the Alberta Media Fund in Budget 2026 and a $25,000 contribution through the Alberta Film Commission in support of this year’s ShowCanda event.
