🎉 District 1, we did it!! 🎉
I’m beyond thrilled and humbled to announce that I will be your next Orlando District 1 City Commissioner! This win isn’t just mine, it belongs to every volunteer, supporter, and neighbor who believed in our vision for a stronger, more connected community.
Thank you to everyone who knocked doors, made calls, shared our message, and cast their vote, your dedication made this moment possible. I also want to thank the other three candidates, Jim Gray, Sunshine Grund, and Manny Acosta, for running spirited campaigns. Healthy competition challenges us, makes us better, and inspires us to think bigger about the future of our district.
This campaign was about bringing positive change and ensuring every voice in District 1 is heard. It was about you. Now, the real work begins, and I’m committed to serving with integrity, passion, and focus on building a better future for Orlando.
Here’s to what we’ll accomplish together. Let’s get to work!

Very good primer by Jason Garcia on how Ron DeSantis is helping real estate developers exploit a hurricane relief law. We have to stand up for Home Rule!

It's official - I am a qualified candidate for City of Orlando - 2025 general election for Commissioner for District 1.
Election Day is Tuesday November 4th.
Happy Labor Day! Today is about honoring labor movements and workers who allow our communities to thrive.
Every worker deserves respect, and every labor union's effort in fighting for fair wages and representation should be acknowledged.
Orlando has a pedestrian and bicycle safety issue – Governor DeSantis has a “political” issue. Who is making a political statement? Fourth graders at Laureate Park Elementary who were recognized by the @MyFDOT - or - the Governor?
Orlando has a pedestrian and bicycle safety issue. Data shows drivers drove roughly 25% slower around the decorative crosswalks installed near schools, and drivers ran stop signs 10% less often.
Orlando needs more not less decorative crosswalks. I will fight for public safety over politics every day.

Attending the Florida League of Cities Conference yesterday, met Glendale Wisconsin Mayor Bryan Kennedy. Welcome to Orlando and the Sunshine State Mr Mayor!
Proud to share that I have earned the endorsement of the @TheRealCFAFLCIO.
Representing over 70,000 Union workers in Central Florida, many who live and work right here in Orlando District 1, the AFL-CIO advocates for social and economic justice for all Central Florida's working families.
New Florida law strips local control of development.
SB 180 was supposed to improve disaster recovery providing clear, streamlined permitting requirements to ensure families can make the repairs they need without being hit with higher tax bills. But language barring new local land-use or development regulations considered “restrictive or burdensome,” even if they are completely unrelated to storm recovery guts local control like Orange County Vision 2025. orlandoweekly.com/news/nonpr…
Today is National Spoil Your Dog Day, but for me, it's a normal day!
Meet Finn, my West Highland White Terrier (or Westie). He's my campaign sidekick, door-knocking cheerleader, and #1 reminder to enjoy the little things. Baby Lucas is also on Team Keen!
How are you spoiling your dog today?
