Bahá’í Couple Elham Khollas and Navid Tashakkor Due in Court on 21 October 2026 It was learned on 15 October 2026 that Mrs. Elham Khollas Ardestani and her husband, Mr. Navid Tashakkor, both Bahá’ís and the parents of a 15-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son, were scheduled to appear in court on 21 October 2026 for a hearing in their case. Mr. Tashakkor had previously been arrested on charges related to the manufacture of drones and was acquitted. He was arrested again on 13 December 2025. After the couple’s laptops and mobile phones were confiscated, agents examined materials concerning the Bahá’í Faith stored on the devices, prompting an investigation into the couple’s religious beliefs. Mr. Tashakkor was released on bail of one billion tomans after several weeks in temporary detention. Mrs. Khollas was arrested on 18 August 2026 after reporting to the investigator’s office headed by Mr. Sabbagh. The charges against her included keeping an article on her laptop, studying at the Bahá’í Institute for Higher Education (BIHE), and having “contact with Israel.” #Bahai #Iran #Arrests #Imprisonments #ElhamKhollasArdestani #NavidTashakkor

Bahá'ís have been part of #Qatar since before the modern state was founded, But after years of discrimination, that community now faces erasure: over the past 15 years, more than 20 Bahá'í families, about 100 people, have been forced to leave. And recently, two more Bahá'ís were deported, and two others face imminent deportation. Learn more: bic.org/news/qatar-deports-f…

Behzad Yazdani Detained for More Than Six Months Without Trial It was learned on 4 October 2026 that, more than six months after his arrest, Mr. Behzad Yazdani, a Bahá’í resident of Shiraz, remained detained in Adelabad Prison without a court hearing or resolution of his case. Security agents arrested Mr. Yazdani at his home in Shiraz on 28 March 2026 and subsequently transferred him to Adelabad Prison, where he has since remained in custody. Throughout Mr. Yazdani’s detention, no court session has been held to address the charges against him. He has also been denied access to legal counsel and has not been permitted to review his case file. His family has received no clear information from judicial authorities about the status of the case, the possibility of his release on bail, or the timeline for judicial proceedings; they have been told only that the case remains under review. Further concern arose following the death of Mr. Yazdani’s mother-in-law the previous week. The relevant authorities denied a request for several hours of furlough to allow him to attend her funeral and burial ceremony. The case forms part of a broader series of actions affecting members of Mr. Yazdani’s family. His wife, Mrs. Romina Khazali, was arrested at her home in Shiraz by the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on 29 March 2026 and was released on bail on 21 June 2026. As of the time of writing, no court date had been announced, and no information had been made available about the resolution of Mr. Yazdani’s case or the possibility of his release. #Bahai #Iran #Arrests #Imprisonments #BehzadYazdani

In an interview with @IranIntl journalist Negar Mojtahedi, Bahiyyih Nakhjavani, editor and co-translator of Open Wide the Doors, discusses the memoir of Iranian poet and Bahá’í prisoner of conscience Mahvash Sabet. Nakhjavani explores Sabet’s philosophy of “constructive resilience” through her experiences in prison, where even small acts of service, compassion, and solidarity with fellow prisoners became ways of responding to injustice with purpose. On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we reflect on the treatment of Indigenous Peoples in Canada’s residential school system and focus our efforts on building a future where every child is treated with care and dignity. Inuit artist, Ujarak Appadoo @ujarak_, reminds us of the things that require our attention in her artwork titled “Amaaqtara” (What I Carry). As we all take part in building a society founded on justice, we carry the burdens of a tragic history but also the responsibility of contributing to the healing of society. We must nurture and strengthen our relationships with each other, while recognizing that our progress is shaped by those that came before us. #orangeshirtday #everychildmatters #truthandreconciliation #ndtr

NOW IN THEATERS: Cast Aside the Clouds, from director Mary Darling and co-directors Bre Vader and Felicia Sobhani, is the first feature film to bring the story of the Bahá'ís in Iran to the big screen. But it's no tragedy and it isn't a victims' narrative. Cast Aside the Clouds is a love story, between Leyla, a young Bahá'í woman, and Sassan, a Muslim man navigating Iran's tension between prejudice and progress. And it evokes the love Bahá'ís have for Iran irrespective of 47 years of persecution under the Islamic Republic. The film is at New York's Village Cinema until 4 June, the Lumiere Cinema in Los Angeles from 4-11 June, the Wayfarer Cinema in Chicago from 18-25 June, and in Washington DC at the Angelika from 25 June to 1 July. castasidetheclouds.com
