Valuable conference on childhood trauma in diverse communities in Leeds today #UKPTS2025 ... I have learnt so much: Wow! moments from @LeedsSolace, @AttuneProject, @andrea_danese, @Siobhan_HJ, @ReTHINK and @EASprecher to name a few. More over on BlueSky...
Good morning everyone!
#UKPTS2025 is finally here. Let us know if you are joining us @nexusunileeds or if you're following along here with our selected highlights throughout the day.
The inaugural lecture of someone you really like is a pleasure; I'm rather in awe of Professor Pam Alldred's lifetime of achievements and authenticity (including the stripey tights). "A good girl never goes anywhere without her politics" - Yass! Congrats! @AllPam @ntu_research

This Care Leavers Week, we're highlighting the challenges our young people face in accessing college or university. We want more people to understand the barriers our talented young people overcome to succeed.
This Care Leavers Week, we invite you to CARE.

Reading this social psychology take on the weekend's events helped me... I was heartened to see the quick off the mark anti-fascist response. Sheffield in particular. @ProfJohnDrury 's blog explains why that response matters so much.
'The August 2024 riots: Empowerment of the xenophobes'
New blogpost with brief social psych perspective on the week's awful events. Please share.

Yesterday I graduated my PhD.
Wonderfully, it was in NTU's new gender neutral hood (no longer made to attach to shirt buttons/tie), designed by an NTU student of fashion: Georgia Stevenson, and using recycled plastic too.

And here are some of the cheerleaders who got me to this point: @Blerina_Kellezi @ARC_EM @ntu_research @ROWTATE_Study @PsychologyNTU @E_Rowley @Rehab_Research @jade_kettlewell @MikeRennoldson Thank you so much for everything you have done for me.
My first conf. presentation as 'Dr' @ICSIH6, with so much gratitude to my encouragers: @ARC_EM and @ntu_research for funding me; @Rowtate and @E_Rowley for investing in the research question and @Blerina_Kellezi for her mentoring and supervision superpowers, + all named on slide

@gihntu member @Kay_Bridger talking about her recently-completed PhD research on appraisals following traumatic injury #icsih6
Perfectly timed with the #CRSV international day to end conflict associated sexual violence, @Blerina_Kellezi 's #icsih6 talk summarised a holistic approach to justice developed from many years of research with the most vulnerable trauma populations. @gihntu @ntu_research
Up next today at #ICSIH6, @Blerina_Kellezi highlights the important role of holistic justice when it comes to understanding responses to, and impacts of, Mass Human Rights Violations @psychologyNTU
My lovely @gihntu colleague @DarelCookson provided great conspiracy theory food-for-thought today at #icsih6. Fascinated to hear of an association between conspiracy beliefs and Family identity... relateable!
Interesting insights into the role of social identity and connection for conspiracy beliefs #ICSIH6
Already loving @ICSIH6 : I'm in joyful student mode again, learning about applying biometric measures of allostatic load in social identity research. Thank you @EadaoinWhelan3 @grace_mc7 for content and @PsychologyNTU for sending me.
Being a trauma psychologist today meant taking a "break" from marking to attend a brilliant lecture on wartime (WWII) sexual slavery or "comfort women" by Dr Sachiyo Tsukamoto. Thank you @ntu_research ...the colleague conversations after made my week.
What a wonderful idea! I 💜 this collaboration. With cost of living, getting workplace-ready is even more challenging for our students than it ever was. This is a triple-winner: sustainability; employability; fairness to students from less affluent backgrounds.
It was fantastic to launch the Professional Student Wardrobe, in partnership with @WhiteRoseShop, at our City Campus this week 👗👔
It provides NTU students and graduates with free, professional clothing for career related activities 👏

Just passed my viva (minor corrections)
How do I feel? Too big to process today. First family PhD: every step was new territory. But I didn’t do it alone, thanks to @Blerina_Kellezi @MikeRennoldson @Rehab_Research Danai Serfioti @ROWTATE_Study @ARC_EM @gihntu @PsychologyNTU 🙏🏽
#physiotherapists, #OTs, #nurses, #pharmacists responses needed to contribute to rehabilitation research, please 🙏🏽
🚨Help needed! 🚨
We have had very poor response rate to this survey so far. It can be completed by ANY #OTs #physiotherapists #nurses #pharmacists - we want to know your thoughts about fit note certification being part of your professional role.

Really important support role for people recovering from injury, know anyone?
Also pleasing to see that the Day One charity is expanding the support work that brings major trauma survivors so much reassurance.
📣 New job opportunity!
We’re looking for a Caseworker to provide vital support to people who have suffered catastrophic injuries and their loved ones at Aintree University Hospital, Liverpool.

"Blood in the blackbird's field. A story of war, justice and resilience. " @DokuFest 2023. Developed by @Blerina_Kellezi & colleagues based on survivors' testimonies from the Krusha e Madhe massacre of March 1999 in Kosova. Remembrance & sharing matters!

Absolutely loving the latest childhood trauma research out of @ULPsych @DaraghBr on long-term heart reactivity changes and @AnnaMLashkay making links between stigma, disidentification and dissociation. I am so *here* for this @easp2023krk
