Shocking decision from @AQAEnglish today. Not only has the decision come later than promised, it also disadvantages students/schools who have not yet taught poetry as they were focusing on the other texts. Will be carefully considering whether to mark for them again.

Weeks of chaos, confusion and incompetence. We need a return to teacher assessments for A-level results and urgent action to avoid the same injustice for GCSE students. Boris Johnson has been invisible during this crisis. He needs to take personal responsibility, and fix it.

Wonderful news for Northern Irish students- here's hoping English students receive the same. 3 days to go

After consulting @CCEA_info & having listened to the concerns of principals, teachers, parents & young people, I have decided that all GCSE students on Thursday will now receive the grades submitted by their school.

It's the Conservative education dream: Everyone gets grades in line with what type of school they go to. We'll be lucky if they ever bring back exams.

Fair point well made

Tory ministers saying “we owe it to children to open schools” might want to explain to me why they closed my youth centre, cut mental health services, underfunded my secondary school, stripped free school meals from my peers, tripled tuition fees, demonised climate strikers...

Many things about the North/South divide annoy me. But this, this is a step too far

For the doubters. We are always teaching, researching, planning, striving to be better. Even if it is in pjs, on our 12th coffee of the day and 3st heavier than we were in March.
