Enough time has passed, but it's never too late to accept that Katy Perry broke MJ’s record.
In 2012, one week after “Part Of Me” was released, @billboard changed its rules, preventing Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” from scoring 6 #1s.
In 2026, Billboard claims “The Life Of A Showgirl: The Encore” became the album with the most Top 5 songs, despite being a deluxe.

@billboard explain right now why Part of Me can't count as the 6th number-one song from Teenage Dream but the Encore songs count as top 10s for The Life of a Showgirl 💀 it's time to admit Katy broke MJ record.

Billboard is facing criticism after allowing Taylor Swift’s “Patient Zero” to count toward The Life of a Showgirl’s total of #1 hits, despite the song being released on the album’s deluxe edition, while NOT allowing Katy Perry’s “Part of Me” to count toward Teenage Dream’s total despite also being released as part of its deluxe edition.
Both songs debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

so by this logic teenage dream is officially the album with the most n1 in history? @billboard

Following billboard’s new guidelines change, Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection” is now the album with the most No #1 songs in history.
The album had previously been tied with Michael Jackson’s iconic “BAD” album but has now surpassed, Congratulations to Katy Perry for this monumental achievement.

Listen..... I am not a huge Katy Perry fan but if @billboard is going to give Taylor that Top 10s record by including her deluxe , than they are going against their own rules that denied KP the most #1s from one album record.
