ALT A late Victorian photograph of three young, naked, white fellas posing as as The Oath of the Horatii. If you don’t know what that Roman legend is, you’ll have to Google it - and don’t feel bad because I didn’t either. They are stood close to each other, in a semi circle, their hands all resting on one another - like one-potato-two-potato. They are supposed to be swearing an oath to each other, but it looks very much like that moment in American sport films where the team huddled before the start & gives it a “goooooooooo team!” They are all in very good shape, very muscly. Their hair is dark & short, but with curls. They all have moustaches. They have what looks like papier-mâché on their penises, but I think it’s an actual fig leaf - though it looks like they’re shagging a bag of crisps. It’s very, very odd. They are all stood on a lovely stripy rug - really ties the shot together.
