A non-medical friend recently asked me to describe clinic. I told her to imagine you have 20 meetings in a day, half of them new clients with urgent needs. Each requires your best self. You are late for at least 10 of them. You must prepare a report and deliverables for each one.

Everyone is the hospital is working really hard right now, but I especially wanted to thank our residents.
You all are being tested like very few generations of trainees have been historically.
I really appreciate all that you're doing for your patients.

Such an important thread on gender bias in referrals to surgeons. Sadly as you might have guessed, it’s just as bad in gynecology as other fields. A high % of women is not protective. @1001cuts @temkins @juliedcantor @pringlmillermd @EquityDocs @WomenSurgeons #ILookLikeASurgeon

Bumped tomorrow’s planned video for an extended discussion of the Texas Abortion Ban.
As a reformed small-town Texas evangelical, I think this relatively non-polarized discussion is VERY palatable & important for anyone who is willing to listen.
See you at noon CST!

But I’ll be damned if I raise boys who think emotions are the enemy. Compassion and empathy in crisis, the acknowledgment of tragedy in human ways, this is what makes us civilized.

I want to share a brief reflection on perspective. A🧵 Many times in my life I have been told that I am too bubbly, too verbose, too excitable, too loud... too much. I have been told to speak softer, speak less, not show my enthusiasm, not show my excitement...its unprofessional.

There should really be a multi-disciplinary pain management bundle for people having an acute on chronic pain flare (ie. Endometriosis) presenting to the ED that would prevent considerable distress and sense of helplessness on the side of both patient and provider

Congrats to my co-author @DrCaraGrimes for highlighting an important topic that shows marginalized populations are underrepresented in Gynecologic research.
