Had fun visiting @AucklandUni open day with family. Inspiring insights from @EllipticKiwi and @astro_jje (we were family who put phone photo inside lightbulb mirror experiment) and many others. Think I saw @KateMathy in a corridor too, but was crazy busy!

This is one of the reasons craft skills are so vital! The satellite company couldn’t find the skills it needed in the engineering world so turned to this woman’s craft business! 👏

It's crazy how such a minor tweak like labeling problems as mild, medium, and spicy drastically improves student engagement by giving them choice. From @pgliljedahl #thinkingclassroom #cmcsouth

I have made a picture book "Maths Sheep Play Sheep" in honour of Children's Book Week, inspired by "Where is the Green Sheep?" by Mem Fox and Judy Horacek. I hope you like it. youtu.be/b_011SSD_kU

🥰😍 lovely cable pattern too!
Yana Mohanty@Geometiles24 Jul 2023
For this week’s #mathphoto23 I borrowed a friend’s knitting project. She said the pattern repeats every 8 rows. So we can think of the rows as #units . Look between the lines of the 2nd photo for the fundamental domain. A cable could also serve as a unit. #mtbos #iteachmath #unit

Hmmm just my @MathsJamOceania early bird registration invitation. I wonder whether I can organise myself into a weekend in NZ? Without also spending a week or two back in Wgtn catching up with everyone?

I'm giving a maths talk next week, at the school I used teach at, about maths in poetry. Do you have any favourites? Not looking for poems about maths per se, but poems where maths informs the structure or similar... #WritingCommunity #poetrycommunity #poetry #Mathematics

Not as stable as I'd like, but I expect I'll get better at folding these & getting them to hold together as I work through the book 😍 #origami #ModularOrigami
A modular origami compound of two cubes. One cube is light green and the other is dark green. They appear to intersect each other. The model is sitting on a cutting mat with origami paper and an instruction book in the background.

The compound of two cubes origami model from a slightly different angle, sitting on a cutting mat with the book "compound polyhedra modular origami" by Fergus Currie propped up behind it. The same model is featured on the book cover, along with a more complex model I hope to work towards.
