And she’s Dr. Copes-Gerbitz!! Kelsey you are an inspiration-our mentor, our friend, and often the glue that holds the Tree Ring Lab together ❤️ So thrilled to have been able to watch you absolutely kill your defense 🎓

After 18 months apart, the FIDEL group had beers on the beach! Missing a few members, but lovely to reconnect the lab family as we head into the first week of teaching. #Vaxxed #BacktoSchool2021 #ubcforestry

The data sums it up: it's 'a pandemic of the unvaccinated' Being part of the population represented on the right side of this graph is a great privilege. #getvaccinated

These firefighters are providing structure protection in Silverfork, just east of Kyburz. Low intensity burning operations remove light fuels from around structures to help reduce the fire risk. El Dorado National Forest

Well we did it! We successfully ran a field school during a pandemic! Planning was crazy, but so grateful we got to be with real 3D people in real 3D forests, teaching and learning about forest operations, BC BEC zones, fire ecology and so much more🌲

Within the last month, my first paper was published and I advanced to Candidacy! After the year we’ve all had it’s been nice to have some wins

Still reeling @PictureaSciFilm. Realizing today that so many experiences I've brushed off + normalized in school and academia were sexual harassment. Everyone should watch this film The good news is I have new #Steminist heroes #NancyHopkins @jkwillenbring @DrRubidium @KateClancy

Feels a bit depressing when you recognize the local CalFire spokesperson by name. After watching these briefings and living 4 years of fires, sometimes it feels like it never ends. Feeling especially thankful for all the first responders out there ❤️ #SonomaStrong #GlassIncident

Teaching my first class in Wildfire Ecology at UBC this morning and got this pic from my parents in Sonoma, California. If this doesn’t prove why a scientific education is relevant I don’t know what does... #CaliforniaWildFire #FireSeason2020 #ClimateCrisis #FireSmart

Felt nervous to send out an email asking my lab group to discuss #DiversityandInclusion Some of their wonderful responses: "this is so important" "thanks for taking the initiative on this" Feeling so grateful to be a part of this wonderful working group #FIDELab #UBCForestry

We’ve had issues with boaters interfering with firefighting aircraft on Shuswap Lake. This is dangerous, both to the public and to our personnel, and interferes with critical firefighting operations. Please stay away from active wildfire sites on the ground, and on the water.

A few years ago the @NAACP was all but gone in #SonomaCounty. Rubin Scott helped bring it back to life and has quickly become a trusted and prominent voice in the local fight against systemic racism. His approach? Self-love and togetherness ✊🏽 pressdemocrat.com/article/ne…
