Trump announced an agreement giving the United States a major stake in a joint venture involving Venezuelan oil fields and access to an estimated 65 billion barrels of reserves. The deal has already sparked major questions about its legal structure, transparency and economic impact. Experts also warn that rebuilding Venezuela's oil infrastructure could take years and enormous investment, meaning any effect on gasoline prices is unlikely to be immediate.
