We are led today by Karen Ondwasi of @FAWEAfrica , moderating our Building Consensus for the GIMAC Mid-Year Coordination Webinar Pre-Consultation.
Her leadership will help to foster meaningful dialogue, shared learning and collective action as we convene voices across Africa to forge a common advocacy agenda on gender-responsive WASH.
Join us in building consensus for a future where water, sanitation, dignity and gender justice go hand in hand.

This Menstrual Hygiene Day, we reaffirm that access to clean water, safe sanitation, and hygiene is essential for the dignity, health, and empowerment of women and girls.
Gender-responsive WASH systems are key to breaking stigma, keeping girls in school, and advancing equality for all. 🌍⚖️

Today, we were honored to join @feminist_centre in Kibera for a community engagement marking #MenstrualHygieneDay2026. The event also marked the launch of FEM-PAD, a reusable sanitary towel initiative tackling period poverty and promoting menstrual dignity for girls and women.

At #42GIMAC, Commissioner Janet Sallah-Njie reminded us that the #AUEVAWGConvention is more than a promise, it is a binding African commitment. With clear standards, safeguards, and accountability pathways in place, the moment is now to secure ratifications and turn rights into real protection for women and girls across the continent.

Mashujaa day celebrations often come as an opportunity to celebrate our heroes both past and living. This year's Mashujaa day is different, because it comes with the weight of saying goodbye to a once in a lifetime hero. A hero who we all knew, experienced and loved. A hero who didn't just fight for change and take a step back, but kept the fight going that we may learn how to live with that change lest it consumes our nation.
True heroes are those who leave a permanent light burning, and Baba's light will continue to burn for generations to come. Baba is a leader like no other, and we honour him today and always. All hail Kenya's ultimate Shujaa!
Happy Mashujaa day, friends.
