My 2026 Christmas wrapping paper designs are now available for pre-order. Why pre-order you say? I’m a one woman small business and pre-order helps me to see which designs are the most popular before I place an order with my printer. gailmyerscough.co.uk/christm…

The Senate passed a bill to sanction countries that purchase Russian oil, so is the U.S. going to sanction itself now?
The United States is now importing fuel from Russia, per President Trump.

I don't see anything erratic here. For over a decade, Trump has prioritised "getting along with Russia"; since 20 January 2024, Trump administration policy has reflected that priority. It's perhaps the most consistent aspect of Trump foreign policy.
Hard to overstate how erratic and bewildering US policy is right now. Trump envoy proposing Russia prisoner release for sanctions relief, Trump announcing diesel purchases and Kash Patel planning an imminent trip to Moscow for no apparent reason (theatlantic.com/national-sec…)

"For my friends, anything. For my enemies, the law."
The Ending Importation of Russian Oil Act of 2022 prohibits the import of diesel into the United States unless the president submits to Congress a certification that Russia has agreed to withdraw from Ukraine, recognized Ukraine's sovereignty, and poses no threat to NATO. How is this consistent with the law?

If the BBC doesn’t understand the public service remit what is the point of it?
Indeed. In fact, that is its founding purpose

I’m sorry to say the BBC is committing multiple acts of self-harm. Current senior management do not seem to understand that in the changing media landscape the BBC should still be providing content the commercial sector is unwilling or unable to invest in.

Watch this. Putin spits on his own people. Says the great Anna Politkovskaya. RIP
“A typical Soviet KGB officer — a president who spits on his own people.” — Anna Politkovskaya on Vladimir Putin. Exactly 20 years ago, on October 7, 2006, Anna Politkovskaya was murdered in Moscow — on Vladimir Putin’s birthday. The direct perpetrators of her murder were convicted. But twenty years later, the central question remains unanswered: Who ordered the murder of Anna Politkovskaya? Today, on the 20th anniversary of her death, the European Union once again called for everyone responsible to be brought to justice. Twenty years. A journalist is dead. The person who ordered her murder has never been identified. But Politkovskaya’s importance goes far beyond her criticism of Putin. For years, she documented what the Russian state and its forces were doing in Chechnya — killings, torture, disappearances, “cleansing operations” and abuses against civilians. And she did not simply reduce everything to one man in the Kremlin. She also wrote about the responsibility of Russian society itself: its apathy, silence and willingness to allow the system to consolidate its power. That is why her work feels so terrifyingly relevant today. Chechnya showed what impunity could produce. State violence became normalised. Crimes went unpunished. Society learned to look away. And the machinery did not disappear — it grew. Years later, we have seen that machinery turned against Georgia and Ukraine. Politkovskaya’s words about the system she documented sound more frightening today not because they have become outdated, but because we know what happened next. #AnnaPolitkovskaya #Russia #Chechnya #Ukraine #FreeChechnya

Cutting red tape costs taxpayers nothing. It’s a common sense solution to get Britain building.

No great surprise. The antisemitic carpet baggers chased out of Labour by Keir Starmer found a welcome in the Green Party and it’s now captured. A party that has lost sight of its environmentalist roots to become an extreme left home to bigots.

The "Bahrain" #F1 Grand Prix at #Sepang was a vast improvement on it being in Bahrain. Get it back on the calendar next year and call it the Malaysian Grand Prix. Sepang is the superior circuit on so many levels.
