I really hope the Raptors try to renegotiate, because if I’m Trent, I’m walking away immediately.
Yeah, the Clippers would lose a good haul, but if Toronto wants to move the goalposts after agreeing to the deal, fine. Move Kawhi somewhere else.
The objective shouldn’t just be “get the biggest haul.” It should be getting the books extremely clean. Find a team willing to give you expirings, draft capital and flexibility, then reset.
After everything the Clippers have lost in draft capital, I’m not giving Toronto another discount because they suddenly got cold feet. If the deal isn’t the deal anymore, walk away.
Get Kawhi somewhere else, clean up the books and deal with everything after. I’m not playing games anymore.
