Rewatching LOK and It’s strange that Korra isn’t the best at waterbending, even though it’s her native element. Past Avatars like Yangchen, Kyoshi, and Aang were all the best at their native elements, and no one even came close to their level. But with Korra, it feels like almost everyone is better than her at waterbending. Katara mastered advanced techniques, Hama created bloodbending, Amon used it in ways no one else could, her uncle Unalaq outclassed her, and even Ming-Hua was more skilled than her. For an Avatar from the Water Tribe, it’s odd that she doesn’t dominate her own element like the others did and she even learned from a waterbending prodigy and master. So it begs the question, why didn’t Korra dominate her own element the way other Avatar mastered theirs?
