Joe Rogan is completely speechless when investigative journalist Mariana van Zeller reveals that META internally projected $16 BILLION in revenue from scams and banned ads so they charged suspected scammers more money to advertise instead of banning them: ROGAN: “This means they’re in on it then. They're making money.” CONTEXT: The numbers come from Meta's OWN internal documents obtained by Reuters, not simply accusations from an angry former employee. According to the November 2025 investigation, Meta internally estimated that approximately 10% of its total 2024 revenue which is roughly $16 BILLION, could come from advertisements promoting scams and prohibited goods. Another internal estimate suggested Facebook and Instagram users were being shown approximately 15 BILLION higher-risk scam advertisements EVERY DAY. Those were estimates based on Meta's classifications, not 15 billion independently verified scams. But the most disturbing revelation wasn't the amount of money. It was what Meta reportedly did when its own systems suspected an advertiser was fraudulent. According to Reuters, Meta's automated enforcement system generally required at least 95% confidence that an advertiser was committing fraud before banning the account. What happened when the system suspected fraud but didn't reach that threshold? In certain cases, Meta charged the advertiser MORE MONEY to compete for advertising space. The company called these higher costs “penalty bids.” Meta's explanation was that making advertising more expensive would discourage suspicious advertisers from purchasing ads. But think about the financial contradiction. If the suspected scammer gives up because advertising becomes too expensive, the system potentially prevents fraudulent ads. If the suspected scammer can still afford the increased price, Meta can continue earning revenue from that advertiser. And here's an even stranger possibility: Scammers running the most profitable operations may be the ones best positioned to absorb the higher advertising costs. That is an economic concern about the policy's incentives, not proof that Meta deliberately designed it to reward successful fraudsters. But the internal documents reportedly went further. Some large advertisers designated as “High Value Accounts” could accumulate MORE THAN 500 enforcement strikes without being shut down, according to Reuters. And employees were reportedly producing internal summaries identifying the week's “Scammiest Scammer.” Reuters checked five accounts highlighted in one such report. TWO were still active more than six months later. Then there's the part that makes the entire system particularly troubling for ordinary users. According to the documents, someone who CLICKED on a scam advertisement could become MORE likely to see additional scam advertisements. Why? Because Meta's recommendation systems attempt to identify what users are interested in and deliver more relevant advertising. So a vulnerable person engaging with a suspicious investment opportunity might inadvertently signal to the system that similar advertisements are worth showing them. That's not necessarily a conscious decision to target victims. It's a potential consequence of optimizing advertising around engagement without sufficiently eliminating fraudulent advertisers. And the real-world losses are enormous. IMPORTANT NOTES: The Federal Trade Commission reports that consumers lost approximately $2.1 BILLION in 2025 to scams that began on social media. Those losses cover social media broadly, not Meta alone. New development: On October 1, 2026, the FTC opened a rulemaking inquiry asking whether digital platforms should face greater legal responsibility for advertising systems that facilitate government and business impersonation scams. The agency explicitly raised the problem of platforms collecting advertising revenue while consumers bear the financial consequences of fraud.

I reread this every year. I cry like a baby every year. Todd Beamer died a father, husband, and hero. Todd: Hello… Operator… listen to me. I can’t speak very loud. This is an emergency. I’m a passenger on a United flight to San Francisco. Our plane has been hijacked. Lisa: I understand. Can they see you? Todd: No. There are three that we know of. They have knives — razor knives, like box cutters. Someone announced from the cockpit there was a bomb. It sounded fake. Lisa: Your name?Todd: Todd Beamer. United Flight 93.Todd: They killed one passenger in first class. They forced most of us back. Fourteen of us here. Five flight attendants. The guy with the bomb ordered us to sit on the floor. Lisa: Are you okay? Todd: We’re going down… wait. No. We’re leveling off. We changed directions. We’re flying east again. Todd: A guy named Jeremy called his wife. She told him two planes hit the World Trade Center. Lisa, is that true? Lisa: I have to tell you the truth. It’s very bad. Both towers are gone. A third plane hit the Pentagon. Our country is under attack. I’m afraid your plane may be part of their plan. Todd: Oh God. Lisa, will you do something for me? Call my wife and my kids. Promise me you’ll call. Lisa: I promise. Todd: Our home number is… You have the same name as my wife. Lisa. We’ve been married ten years. She’s pregnant with our third child. Tell her I love her. I’ll always love her. We have two boys — David, he’s 3, and Andrew, he’s 1. Tell them their daddy loves them and he is so proud of them. The baby is due January 12th. I saw an ultrasound. We still don’t know if it’s a girl or a boy. Lisa: I’ll tell them. I promise, Todd.(Lisa patches in the FBI.) Agent: Todd, your plane is on a course for Washington. Best guess is the White House or the Capitol. Todd: I understand. I’ll be back. Todd: Everyone knows this isn’t a normal hijacking. We have decided we will not be pawns in their plot. Lisa: What are you going to do? Todd: Four of us are going to rush the one with the bomb. Then the cockpit. A stewardess is getting boiling water. We’ll take them out. Todd: Would you pray with me?They pray the Lord’s Prayer. Then: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me. Todd: God help me. Jesus help me.Are you guys ready? Let’s Roll.

In the early stages of Montana State’s 54-0 victory last Saturday, wide receiver @DowlerTaco took a big hit while attempting to catch a pass. Just a few plays later he was blocking a defender through the end zone to help teammate (and roommate) @dane12steel score a 55-yard touchdown. Today Bobcats’ head coach Brent Vigen spoke about Dowler and said that sequence speaks to who he is as a leader on their team.

Sophie Cunningham responds to criticism over her recent comments to ESPN about wanting to protect women's sports from "biological men." "I said what I said. I think it's kind of common sense. When it comes just to protecting young girls in sport and women in sport, I feel very strongly about that. That's why you have Title IX. That's why you have some of the greats in women's sports. If Title IX women's sports weren't protected, then you wouldn't hear about any type of women in sport. I have never once said that I hated the trans community." In her interview with ESPN, Cunningham had said: "I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn't have to go against biological men."
