Giannis Antetokounmpo says Adidas fumbled him because they weren’t willing to give a contract to his brother: “So at 14 — Adidas approached me…they said they would give me $5000, at that time I was making $300 a month…my older brother was the better player than me at the time — I was like ‘do you guys mind signing my brother too?’ and Adidas was like ‘yeah, we’ll sign him for $5000 too’…we went to the headquarters and they brought out the paper — this is when I realized the business side of things…I was like ‘where’s my brother’s contract?’ They were like ‘no, you sign yours first and then your brother will sign his’…I said no…then we move on…next day a lady at Nike called me…I said ‘my brother is on the card, would you offer him $5000 too?’ She said yes and that’s how Nike got me.”
