Right now, the reason the US is forced to defend Taiwan is because they practically control the semi-conductor industry.
Semi-conductors are needed for practically EVERY SINGLE advanced electronic device you use on a daily basis. We cannot have ANY other country controlling semi-conductors. That is absolutely a national security priority.
