Katingan Mentaya Project English

🌊 El Niño shifts Pacific rainfall, bringing hotter, drier conditions to Indonesia. As peatlands dry out, fire risk rises. That’s why KMP monitors forecasts and prepares ahead of the dry season. #ElNiño #FirePreparedness #KatinganMentaya

🌳 Additionality: Would this forest have been protected anyway? KMP's latest article looks at the evidence: the documented plans for plantation development across the landscape, and why its conservation approach was needed. 👉 Read the full article: katinganmentaya.com/news-and…

💧 Why does peat need water? Healthy peat is mostly water. Drain it, and that changes fast. Dry peat releases its stored carbon into the air, and it becomes fuel. That's why keeping peat wet is an important step in the projects fire prevention strategy. #ForestProtection

🔥 Meet the people behind the response. Permian Global’s September report follows KMP’s teams working through difficult fire conditions. Read their story and the preparation behind it: permianglobal.com/news/holdi… #KatinganMentaya #ForestConservation

🌍 Integrity matters in carbon markets. Strong monitoring, recognised standards and independent verification help ensure carbon credits are backed by measurable climate outcomes. katinganmentaya.com/pages/en… #CarbonIntegrity #CarbonMarkets #KatinganMentaya

👣 Protecting a landscape this large takes people on the ground. Patrols and monitoring help safeguard KMP's forests and biodiversity, combining local knowledge with long-term conservation. katinganmentaya.com/pages/en… #ForestProtection #Biodiversity #KatinganMentaya

🌍 Peatlands are extraordinary natural carbon stores. Protecting KMP's peat swamp landscape helps keep carbon locked below ground while safeguarding forests and wildlife above it. #Peatlands #ClimateAction #KatinganMentaya katinganmentaya.com/pages/en…

🌱 Sustainable agriculture can support people and forests. KMP works with communities to encourage responsible approaches to farming that strengthen livelihoods while reducing pressure on surrounding ecosystems. katinganmentaya.com/pages/en… #Agriculture #Community #KatinganMentaya

🔎 Understanding nature is essential to protecting it. Research and long-term monitoring build knowledge of KMP's forests, wildlife and carbon-rich peatlands, helping support evidence-led conservation. katinganmentaya.com/pages/en… #ConservationScience #Research #KatinganMentaya

📚 Education creates opportunities that can last for generations. KMP supports learning initiatives within surrounding communities as part of a wider commitment to long-term social development. katinganmentaya.com/pages/en… #Education #CommunityDevelopment #KatinganMentaya

🌐 Climate action is connected to much more than carbon. KMP contributes to all 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, connecting climate, biodiversity, livelihoods, health and education. katinganmentaya.com/pages/en… #SDGs #SustainableDevelopment #KatinganMentaya

🔬 Science underpins effective conservation. KMP combines remote sensing with ground-based monitoring to measure carbon, biodiversity and social performance, helping inform long-term project management. katinganmentaya.com/pages/en… #ClimateScience #Conservation #KatinganMentaya

📷 Understanding wildlife is essential to protecting it. Camera traps help KMP monitor biodiversity across the landscape, building a clearer picture of the species that depend on these forests. katinganmentaya.com/pages/en… #WildlifeMonitoring #Biodiversity #KatinganMentaya

🤝 Healthy forests and resilient livelihoods can go hand in hand. KMP works alongside communities to support sustainable economic opportunities, helping people and nature thrive together. katinganmentaya.com/pages/en… #SustainableLivelihoods #Community #KatinganMentaya

🐾 KMP's peat swamp forests provide vital habitat for remarkable wildlife, including the Sunda pangolin, proboscis monkey and Bornean orangutan. Protecting their habitat is central to long-term conservation. katinganmentaya.com/pages/en… #Biodiversity #KatinganMentaya

🌿 Protecting a landscape at scale. KMP protects and restores 157,875 hectares of tropical peatland forest in Central Kalimantan, bringing climate, community and biodiversity together through long-term conservation. katinganmentaya.com/pages/en… #KatinganMentaya #ForestConservation

🌍 What makes a high-quality carbon credit? Credibility starts with robust science, monitoring and independent verification, helping ensure climate outcomes are measurable and backed by standards. katinganmentaya.com/pages/en… #CarbonCredits #CarbonMarkets #ClimateFinance

🌱 What makes peatlands so important? The real story at Katingan Mentaya isn't above ground, it's below it. Over 90% of this forest's carbon is stored underground, in peat that's been building up for thousands of years. katinganmentaya.com/pages/en… #Peatlands #KatinganMentaya

🌿 Climate. Community. Biodiversity. At KMP, these three pillars come together through protecting carbon-rich peatlands, restoring forests, supporting communities and conserving threatened wildlife. katinganmentaya.com/pages/en… #KatinganMentaya #Conservation #NatureBasedSolutions

👥 Behind every hectare protected is a team working on the ground. From biodiversity and forest protection to hydrology and community development, KMP's people make long-term conservation possible. katinganmentaya.com/pages/en… #ConservationTeam #KatinganMentaya #PeopleAndNature
