At @CanterburyCCUni graduation ceremony and I’m so proud of my daughter, I just wish someone had advised the person presenting how to say one of the most common names in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 it’s Eilidh (Ay Lee) not Ellid. We didn’t even get to cheer her.

My heart breaks for this little girl. Once again we will have the ‘lessons will be learned’ rhetoric. Remember Baby P, Victoria Climbie, Star Hobson, Archie Battersbee and so many more where ‘lessons will be learned’ and weren’t.
Ten-year-old Sara Sharif was sassy and bubbly, but behind closed doors she was brutally beaten. Why could nobody save her? bbc.in/4gt8zOC

"Would you allow a prison to be built in your constituency?" "Yes." Labour's Clive Lewis says while he wouldn't halt a new prison being built in his constituency, "If you're building prisons, you're failing."

The term "buy-in" is used widely in change but it is not helpful. When we ask "how do we get [add the name of a particular group] to buy-in to our proposed change?", it is too late. It creates risk in our ability to achieve outcomes. We don't need "buyers" who "buy-in" to change, we need "investors" who become owners of the change process from the beginning. static1.1.sqspcdn.com/static…. By Henri Lipmanowicz. Children are passionate about making change - but only 1 in 5 feel like those in power listen. I'm taking their voices, views & experiences to politicians & policymakers with this challenge: listen, and act on what children are telling you. #TheBigAmbition childrenscommissioner.gov.uk…

As a candidate, I advocate for the entire nursing workforce, including those who may be marginalised due to discriminated factors such as class, race, religion, belief, poverty, disability, gender, LGBTQ, and other important issues. I also address matters such as fair pay for nursing, the Carr Review, the RCN extraordinary general meeting in November 2022, and the governance of corruption, racism, misogyny, discrimination, sexual abuse, and poor behaviour at the RCN and RCN Congress. Additionally, I recognise the impact of illness and well-being on our nursing workforce and aim to support all members, regardless of their background. My goal is to address issues that are important to nurses, nursing support workers, and nursing students at local, national, and global levels. If you want those things from a visible audible leader with integrity Vote for me! ✅

Dear Sheila, Thank you for the tag. I truly appreciate your initiative and the efforts you are making to support our healthcare workforce. Your focus on addressing the needs of ethnic communities and all HCPs is admirable and much needed. However, I would like to highlight that many of our Caucasian colleagues also face significant challenges and often suffer in silence. It is vital that our support extends across all communities to ensure that every member of our healthcare workforce feels valued and heard. Some of our white colleagues feel particularly trapped by their circumstances, as they may not have the option to move away unless they leave the borough or county. This can add to their stress and feelings of isolation. It is important that we recognise and address these unique challenges as well. Thank you ever so much for your continued dedication to improving the wellbeing of all healthcare professionals. Best wishes, Rekha

Defib the cat facing a no fault eviction from Walthamstow’s ambulance base -hard to see why given he’s lived there for 16 years happily and helps staff cope with a stressful job. Perhaps @wesstreeting if you are feline the staff’s pain you could have a word with @Ldn_Ambulance ?
Your morning reminder that every #ambulance station should have a #cat Please keep sharing to get this noticed.. @stellacreasy this is one of your stations.... change.org/p/save-defib-the-…

Loneliness at work has become an epidemic, leading to workplace stress, people being absent & leaving their jobs. New research has highlighted multiple myths that lead to many leaders making the workplace loneliness situation worse. Myths: 1) Loneliness can be solved by coming back to the office 2) Teams will solve loneliness 3) Lonely people are needier socially than others at work 4) Loneliness is a personal problem, not an organisational problem. Practical actions that leaders can take to reduce work loneliness include measuring loneliness, designing slack in workflows, creating a culture of connection, building socialising into the rhythm of work & maximising each work mode (remote or f2f) for connection. hbr.org/2024/11/were-still-l….
