LEAVE KWANKWASO ALONE, OK Movement Deputy DG Tells Atiku Supporters The deputy director General (North) of the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement, Prince Abubakar Suleiman, has called on supporters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to face their internal challenges and leave Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso out of their crisis. He made the call in Abuja yesterday after a meeting with stakeholders of the OK Movement. Reacting to the ongoing media war between leaders of the two camps, Suleiman said it has become a habit for Atiku’s supporters to drag Senator Kwankwaso, the vice presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) into every problem rocking the ADC. According to him, Kwankwaso is focused on his mandate and should not be made a scapegoat for the internal wrangling within the ADC. “Atiku’s supporters should count Kwankwaso out of their problems and leave Kwankwaso alone. They should face their problems rather than blaming the Vice Presidential candidate of the NDC,” he stated. Suleiman noted that the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement remains committed to issue-based politics and will not be distracted by deliberate attempts to blackmail and distract Senator Kwankwaso. He added that Kwankwaso has paid his dues in Nigerian politics and continues to enjoy massive support across the country due to his track record, stressing that no amount of media attacks will diminish his political relevance. He also commended members of the OK Movement across the country for their commitment and dedication, especially the national director general of the Obi-Kwankwaso OK Movement, John Ughulu. Suleiman further called on Nigerians to support the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket, describing it as the best in Nigeria’s history.

ATIKU AND OTHERS CANNOT RESTORE SUBSIDY WITHOUT ANSWERING THE ₦43 BILLION QUESTION By Comrade Abdullahi Ghali Basaf 18 October 2026 Before the removal of the subsidy by President Bola Tinubu, petrol sold for approximately ₦195 per litre in many parts of Nigeria. Using an illustrative price of ₦1,400 per litre in October 2026, the difference is ₦1,205 per litre—an increase of approximately 618%. According to the NMDPRA, Nigeria's measured daily petrol consumption was 35.7 million litres in July 2026. If the government covered the entire price difference to restore petrol to ₦195 per litre, the estimated cost would be: Daily: ₦43.02 billion. Monthly: ₦1.29 trillion. Annually: ₦15.70 trillion. An annual commitment of ₦15.70 trillion could place enormous pressure on public finances, potentially reducing funds available for education, healthcare, security, infrastructure and other essential services. Borrowing to finance the subsidy could also increase public debt and debt-servicing costs. Nevertheless, restoring subsidy could provide relief through lower petrol prices, reduced transportation costs and potentially lower food prices. The challenge is to deliver that relief without undermining other national priorities. In my view, Peter Obi's position is closer to the economic reality than Atiku Abubakar's promise to restore subsidy. Atiku must explain how he intends to implement his proposal rather than simply promise Nigerians that subsidy will return. What exactly will be the pump price under his proposed policy: ₦500, ₦600, ₦700 or another amount? How much will the government subsidise per litre, and where will the money come from? Restoring petrol to ₦195 per litre under the assumptions in this analysis would require a subsidy of ₦1,205 per litre. A different pump price would mean a different subsidy cost. Let us face the economic reality: Nigerians deserve to know the proposed pump price, the subsidy per litre, the total financial commitment and how the government intends to fund it. Fuel subsidy should not be reduced to a political promise without a credible economic plan. Comrade Abdullahi Ghali Basaf 18th October, 2026

I have noted with deep concern the conduct of the ADC campaign team. The attacks directed at me, our presidential candidate His Excellency Peter Obi, and our party, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), are unnecessary and unhelpful. Rather than focusing on presenting the competence, credibility, and capacity of their own candidate as we have consistently done by placing our credentials and record of achievements before Nigerians, the ADC Presidential Campaign Council appears intent on creating mischief against our party and ticket. This includes attempts to portray us as working for the ruling party or to suggest that we may withdraw from the race in favour of the ADC candidate at the last minute. The ADC-PCC would be better served directing its energy toward rebutting the serious allegations levelled against their candidate by the Vice President, His Excellency Kashim Shettima, instead of targeting me and His Excellency Peter Obi. We are aware that the ADC-PCC may try to mislead our supporters on the eve of the election by claiming that we intend to withdraw in their favour. Let me state clearly and unequivocally: we will not withdraw our candidature for the ADC or any other party. We remain confident in our capacity, competence, and readiness to lead Nigeria. The OK ticket is neither working for nor acting on behalf of the APC or any of its candidates. We see no possibility or reason to withdraw from the presidential race in favour of the ADC candidate or any other. These claims are unfounded and should be treated as such. The APC-led government has failed Nigerians. The ADC offers no better alternative. We believe the OK ticket presents a credible and viable option, backed by proven capacity, a strong track record, credibility, and broad support across both Northern and Southern Nigeria. It is a healing ticket committed to uniting our country and tackling critical challenges in security, education, agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare, the economy, and other key sectors. We believe the NDC remains the most formidable and viable opposition party in the country. I therefore urge all our supporters and well-meaning Nigerians to continue working toward the victory of our great party. Nigeria will be OK. - RMK

“I dropped my presidential ambition for Peter Obi Because I saw confidence in him” – Kwankwaso reveals why he chose to be running mate Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) vice-presidential candidate, has explained why he set aside his presidential ambition to support Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 general election. Kwankwaso said his decision followed political consultations, changing circumstances and a better understanding of Obi’s leadership qualities and vision for Nigeria. Reflecting on their failed attempt to form an alliance before the 2023 election, the former Kano State governor explained that disagreements over who should lead the ticket prevented them from working together at the time. However, he said subsequent interactions changed his perception of Obi and strengthened his confidence in the former Anambra State governor. Kwankwaso explained that consultations with his political associates and supporters helped shape the decision to work with Obi under the NDC platform. He maintained that their alliance was based on shared political goals and the belief that they could work together to address Nigeria’s challenges. Their partnership has become a major talking point ahead of the 2027 election, with supporters viewing the combination of Obi’s southern support base and Kwankwaso’s political influence in the North as a significant opposition force.

The INEC National Headquarters has released the NDC registration document for its Kano State governorship candidate, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo. INEC has also confirmed that his name was among those submitted to the Commission before May 10, 2026. Furthermore, the document bears INEC’s official stamp, confirming that it was issued by the Commission. This is expected to pave the way for his name to be published as the NDC governorship candidate in Kano State. Alhamdulillah!

Peter Obi has a better chance of winning the presidential election than Atiku Abubakar because Obi could win the majority of states in the South-East and South-South. He also stands a chance of securing more than 25% of the votes in the South-West states, with the possibility of even winning Lagos State. In the North, Obi could win some states, including Kano, Taraba, Plateau, Nasarawa, the FCT, and Benue, with the possibility of winning Kogi State as well. He also stands a chance of securing at least 25% of the votes in Kaduna, Adamawa, Kwara, Zamfara, and Bauchi states. However, in my opinion, it would be difficult for Atiku to win even a single state in Southern Nigeria. Comrade Abdullahi Ghali Basaf 13/10/2026
