On #InternationalDayOfRuralWomen, we recognise the vital role rural women play in protecting the land and water communities depend on. We’re committed to supporting their participation in water governance, including through Guardians of Our Waters.
Handwashing with soap protects families, schools, health facilities and workplaces, but it needs access to water, soap and facilities. We support stakeholder collaboration for better WASH services and accountability in Kenya.

Water, sanitation and trees are bound together. Forests and riparian vegetation protect catchments, stabilise riverbanks and cut siltation, keeping water flowing for communities.
This Mazingira Day, let's plant indigenous trees along rivers, springs and wetlands.

Water and sanitation regulation turns policy into enforceable standards: licensing, tariffs, monitoring, complaints, and stepping in when providers fall short. But it depends on who regulates, how providers respond, and whether civil society has a real seat at the table.
What looks good on paper often runs into trouble in practice, and what regulators ask for isn't always easy to deliver. Join CEO Malesi Shivaji, Ronald Nyakana & Jacques Nzitonda this Friday for Integrity Talk 18, hosted by WIN.

Clean water and proper sanitation in schools are critical to student well-being and academic success, yet many schools across Kenya still fall short of national health standards. Are school management boards truly prioritising hygiene, or do they treat it as an afterthought?
Join us on @XSpaces next Wednesday, 30th September, with these sector speakers as they look at whether WASH in schools is planned and funded ahead of time, or only fixed after something goes wrong.

A strong democracy is not built by government alone; it is built by citizens who engage in public participation, budgeting processes, and local governance. This Katiba Day, we celebrate every Kenyan doing the quiet work of holding the Constitution's promise together.
#KatibaDay.
The @kyp034 spent 3 days strengthening their capacity in water governance, public accountability & leadership, reflecting on their journey and what it takes to build a stronger, more cohesive youth-led institution.
#WASHForAll
From the constitutional right to water to CIDP participation, budgeting & Project Management Committees, young people explored real entry points into water decision-making. Peer exchange with @037WaterBunge added hard-won lessons on building effective youth parliaments.
The training closed by examining Kajiado's WASH commitments, spotting gaps in implementation, data & reporting, and turning learning into action. Top priority: a complaint-redress mechanism that gives communities a clear path to raise water service concerns.
#WaterGovernance
Maendeleo Ya Wanawake women joined public participation forums in Kithuke & Kitise (Aug 10–11) and led a sensitisation forum in Kikome on protecting water resources. Their message: women must have a seat at the table in water decision-making.
#WomenWaterGuardians
Women are often at the centre of household water needs, yet rarely at the centre of decisions on it. These forums helped shift that, strengthening women's voice in local water governance. Protecting water is a shared responsibility.

The Multi-Sectoral Nexus value channel is where I4WASH defines integrated projects across those four lines. It is also where CSOs either claim a permanent seat in cross-sector green infrastructure planning or get briefed on decisions made without it.

Six value channels. One track built specifically so that CSOs are no longer an afterthought in rooms like this.
Join us tomorrow to learn how to actually get in the room.
