13 yo Cassidy wants nothing more than to race with her best dragon, Ranga, in the annual Great TX Dragon Race. But with 5 grueling tasks ahead of her, dangerous challenges, and more enemies than allies on the course, Cassidy will need to know more than just dragons to survive.

Sometimes I’m playing a video game and I see the hours I’ve sunk in, and I get upset. I could be writing!
And then I remember, relaxing is an important part of refilling the well.
So go chase that fantasy RPG love interest that seems like they’d step on you.
Trust the process.
So honored to be included on this list! Thank you, @theweekjuniorus! 🐉🏜️☀️

Thank you for the fab review—and for picking up on my @AmazingRaceCBS nod! 🐉🏜️
Just finished "The Great Texas Dragon Race" by @KC_Ritter & couldn't put it down! Dragons aren't usually my thing, but the adventure sucked me in. Little bit fantasy. little bit Amazing Race, I enjoyed how Ritter's middle-grade novel seamlessly weaves in current event themes.

I just finished FREE PERIOD by Ali Terese and it is SUCH a cleverly written story promoting period equity. Funny, dynamic chaos monsters (Helen and Gracie) go from pranks to plans in this wonderful MG story that should be in every classroom! Comes out in March! Add to TBR!
The Great Texas Dragon Race made @TXLA’s 2024 Spirit of Texas (SPOT) Reading List!
I’m so honored to be on this list aside so many fantastic authors. Because I think I said it best there, I’m including the final paragraph from my acknowledgments…
“And Texas—this book has been my love letter to the better parts of you. Your complicated past and present are sometimes difficult to witness. But your majestic horizons, hidden beauty, and incredible diversity leave me ever hopeful for your future.”
