This is Keanu Reeves. He was abandoned by his father at 3 years old and grew up with 3 different stepfathers. He is dyslexic. His dream of becoming a hockey player was shattered by a serious accident. His daughter died at birth. His wife died in a car accident. His best friend, River Phoenix, died of an overdose. His sister battled leukemia. No bodyguards, no luxury houses. Keanu lives in an ordinary apartment and likes wandering around town and often seen riding a subway in NYC When he was filming the movie "The Lake House," he overheard the conversation of two costume assistants, one crying as he would lose his house if he did not pay $20,000 - On the same day, Keanu deposited the necessary amount in his bank account. In his career, he has donated large sums to hospitals including $75 million of his earnings from "The Matrix" to charities. In 2010, on his birthday, Keanu walked into a bakery & bought a brioche with a single candle, ate it in front of the bakery, and offered coffee to people who stopped to talk to him. In 1997 some paparazzi found him walking one morning in the company of a homeless man in Los Angeles, listening to him and sharing his life for a few hours. In life, sometimes the ones most broken from inside are the ones who are willing to help others who need it as they no what true pain and hurt feels like. This man could buy everything, and instead every day he gets up and chooses one thing that cannot be bought: to be real. Keanu Reeves. The One ❤️

Some people will deride others for scrapping together “luxuries” or doing anything that isn’t acting out Dickensian levels of poverty. This includes having access to art, which is a human right. If people can’t have these riches, society is poorer off theguardian.com/stage/2022/d…

Some are absolutely brilliant, while others are just small human errors that we get to laugh at

“… it is very much to be recommended. Soldiers’ Arts Academy are engaged in important work, and Michael Morpurgo’s work is very well suited to them. See Little Manfred to be engaged, to be touched and to admire puppetry at its best.” Thank you so much, @SardinesMag!

We've a double bill tonight, starting with @KBromovsky @MaryleboneTHLDN for Dmitry. The eagle-eyed will notice we also announced this one on Tuesday, but we had a last minute change of plans! So we are excited to finally be seeing this newly refurbed venue this evening

You must see 40/40 @2destlang @ZOOvenues without doubt the most alive, in the moment and reflective show I have seen over the last 10 days. A piece which understands that context is all

Nell Dunn does it again. She subtly (we barely notice she does it) gets us thinking. From abortion to women talking about men, home deaths to being naked, Nell has anticipated the debate. & now in her mid-80s, her Muse! Nell was brilliant on @BBCFrontRow hachette.co.uk/titles/nell-d…

27/ The #Decameron ends with the story of Griselda. It is appropriate that this podcasts concludes with it as well. The cruelty that Griselda is subjected to is unbearable, yet her forbearance is remarkable. She is tormented yet she bears her pain. How? play.acast.com/s/passion-and…

30/30 The actors who have told the stories from the #Decameron are exceptional performers. Each story is as brilliant as the next, but credit for the project has to go to @KevinChilds101. Not only did he think up the idea & translate the stories, he also narrated them. Genius 👏

@Kevin_maxwell⁩’s memoir, Forced Out, describes his breakdown caused by racism & homophobia in the #police. It’s a fascinating, intimate & detailed account. The police were unseeing of the harm they caused. Now it’s spelt out, can they comprehend & change? ⁦@GrantaBooks⁩

This is my darling niece. I am a very proud uncle. More importantly, what @KBromovsky says about theatre is wise & true. Theatre & performance are our lifeline - they keep us sane & help us make sense of the world. We mustn’t let this virus kill theatre. strasberg.edu/blog/alumni-sp…
