The past two years tested Socorro ISD, but they also revealed its strength. Students kept learning, staff kept showing up, and our community never stopped believing. The people of #TeamSISD kept showing what it means to be #AllIn with students at the center.

Socorro ISD maintains 41,500 student devices that require updates and replacement on a regular basis. Proposition A includes $8 million for the replacement of student devices that are past their useful life and for the district’s device replacement schedule. 🗳️ On August 17, the Socorro ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved calling an election for Tuesday, November 3. The Finance and Operations Advisory Committee (FOAC) and Budget Advisory Committee (BAC), made up of district, employee and community representatives, met throughout 2025 and 2026 to review district finances, cost-saving measures, funding scenarios and expenditure plans. Their work provided input into the district’s financial planning ahead of the Voter-Approved Tax Ratification Election, Proposition A, that voters will consider this fall. Superintendent James Vasquez joined fellow education leaders today for the El Paso Chamber’s State of Education & Workforce 2026 panel discussion on preparing students for future opportunities and strengthening our region. Thanks to the Chamber and Workforce Solutions Borderplex, and to the students from across the region who asked great questions. We were also proud to have Montwood High School Robotics there showcasing their work. #TeamSISD

Congratulations to our 2026 District Teachers of the Year, Cristina Garcia and Javier Esparza, on being named second runner-up in their respective categories at the 2027 Region 19 Teacher of the Year Award Ceremony! 🎉 Academic excellence continues in Socorro ISD! #TeamSISD increased its accountability score to 87, once again earned the postsecondary readiness distinction and posted STAAR/EOC growth across every subject area. With 18 A-rated campuses, 88% of campuses earning A or B ratings, and no D or F rated schools, these results reflect incredible dedication in our district.
