I find the growth expert-based businesses can't see, then build the offer to capture it. Believer.

What I say before almost every discovery call: "If it's in alignment with my assignment, it will flourish. If not, it will fade, and I'll still be blessed either way." Attached to the process. Detached from the outcome. Desperate sellers can't do the second part.

After a year of treading water, I asked two questions: 1.) Who do I want to help? 2.) What do I care about now? Skip those two and a restart is just a rebrand.

The extent of my coding knowledge. I give AI an idea and say "I don't care how you build it, I just want it to do XYZ at the end." Then, at the end, I ask "Is this the best you can do?" @jclermont would be proud?

A client's sentence, before: "Because I need that revenue." I stopped her. Told her to cut that phrase. Her sentence, after: "There's an abundance of revenue. I just don't know where I'm going to get it from yet." Neediness leaks into every sales call. Buyers can hear it.

Something I hear on a lot of client sales calls. I call it “phantom deferment”. An apologetic tone built in. Deferring to the buyer before they've asked for anything. A script won't fix it. Hearing it will. The buyer hears it before you do.

Five years in college to land my dream internship. First thing I noticed: the guys I worked with slept at the office. I figured out fast that I wanted a life outside the job. If your business needs you sleeping at the office, it's the same internship with your name on it.

I've used the same hiring quiz for every hire. Three times I overrode it and hired the person I liked. Three times the quiz called exactly how it would go. Total disaster.

Tomorrow night at 7 Central, I'm teaching Busy, Not Making Money. Before you come, pull up last week's calendar. Look at where the hours went. You'll want it open for the self-check. Free, 45 minutes.

What I tell people on discovery calls: "I will drag you up the hill to success if I have to. But you can't fight me." The second sentence is the whole filter.

Built a custom GPT loaded with my whole sales framework. Then I fed it my own discovery call transcripts. "This person closed. This person didn't. What did I do well?" It almost felt like I'd found something I wasn't supposed to find. Your lost deals already know what went wrong. But nobody asks them.

We paid Blue Cross $1,800 a month for bare-bones coverage. Five of us are on @JoinCrowdHealth for less than $700 per month now.

Spent a whole day building version one of a client's marketing playbooks. Didn't send them Friday. She'd have spent her weekend on them. I know her. She'd do every task. So she gets them next week. Good clients will burn themselves out for you. Your job is to not let them.

How every training I teach got made: 1. I hit a need in my own business 2. I build something to meet it 3. I run it until it works 4. Then I name it and teach it Skip step 3 and you're selling a theory.

A client's wife asked him the question I wish someone had asked me years ago: "Why are you wasting your time on buyers who don't have money?" One person spending their own savings. Or an organization spending a budget. Same work. Very different yes.
