I always tell my players that playing hard & working hard are the expectations and you wouldn’t be here if you didn’t. But are you gonna compete harder than your opponent? Will you play to & past exhaustion. Winning 50/50 balls. Making life hell for the player you’re guarding. Competing hard is what separates players come game time.

Hard work is the entry fee. Most people stop there. Competing is choosing to give everything you have in that moment, regardless of the scoreboard, the circumstances, or the opposition.

In the last 7 AAU seasons, I’ve coached 4 teams at the 17U age group. I’ve helped tons of SLAAM athletes play at the next level and I’ve had conversations with coaches at all levels from Power 4 on down. If your goal is to play college basketball I don’t know another coach that’ll match my body of work helping get you recruited. I called, texted, emailed and DM’d 164 coaches leading up to the first July period last year, I have 180+ active coaches contacts in my phone. If you want to play college basketball, show up at @SLAAMBASKETBALL tryouts next week, and I’ll do everything I can to bring coaches out to watch you play. Once coaches sit down, it’s your turn to show up and show out. But if you want to give yourself the best chance, you need to be wearing a SLAAM jersey.
