Now that you’ve seen THE DEVILS, I implore you all to see Ken Russell’s CRIMES OF PASSION if you haven’t already. Horny, hilarious, romantic and profoundly sad all at once, it’s the film Douglas Sirk would have made if he’d known about poppers and pegging.

I saw someone on here talking about how no one should ever work for free. They were talking about acting but I think it can equate to any film industry job. Look, while I know producers and execs are taking advantage more than ever, I just want to say that is insane advice. I do work for free or dirt cheap all the time. Every "yes" from me boils down to at least one of four things: does it pay really well, is it for a close friend or someone I love collaborating with, am I obsessed with it creatively, or do I see a clear path how it could push my career forward. If one of those hits, I'm probably in. I can pinpoint the VAST majority of higher paying gigs I've had directly back to a gig I did for free or for like $200/day. 90% of success in this industry is built on meeting awesome people and them realizing you are also awesome. This industry is all about stuff like that. Don't get taken advantage of, but also don't immediately close the door on opportunities because of some made up rule.

One of the worst trends of the 21st century America is the gradual bleaching of color from public spaces.
Went to my hometown movie theater, look how they massacred my boy 2 before pics from yelp vs now

I know we're not supposed to break the fourth wall, but the show we're in now was spun off from some thing called The Apprentice.
Is there an equivalent to The Simpsons in a show that not only completely overshadows the show it spun off from but becomes so dominant of a culture force that most people don’t even remember where it started

meet me at the AMC Cuck Chair
AMC Theatres is testing a new layout that includes a chair facing the back row. CEO Adam Aron comments, “Sometimes experiencing the magic yourself isn’t enough. Now you can watch your partner take it all in — and see that indescribable feeling when the lights begin to dim.”

biggest generational differences boil down to boomers’ trauma made them mean, millennials’ trauma made them funny and gen z’s trauma made them scared.

Yall need to be so fr bc fucktoys toured for a year and half, with the hottest fans begging distributors to buy it and even starting a petition on our behalf. There is no film shortage, filmmakers are desperate for distribution.
Indie film has a strange new problem: Buyers are hungry, and audiences are showing up. There just aren’t enough movies to buy. Ashley Cullins talks to top dealmakers about what’s driving the shortage and what could fix it: mrf.lu/2dyqc

Only bad filmmakers have a visual approach and a thematic intent; the good ones have style and ideas, which are inseparable and as personal as a signature; the beauty of movies—and criticism—is that there's no proving the difference, but only experience and the expression of it.
people on here often seem to just decide on a whim to hold filmmakers to different standards vis a vis whether or not a visual approach needs to have some kind of specific thematic intent behind it. saw it happen with Camp Miasma and now with Primetime.

Underrated banger
revisited Strangers: Prey at Night, still a total banger. Nobody using digital quite like Johannes Roberts, no idea how he and DP Ryan Samul find these soft, velvety textures (Samul’s work on Cold in July comes pretty close, though)
