There is no "right man" to take on Trump. It's time to stop looking at Trump as the enemy. The Libs have been doing that since they came to power 10 years ago. It's no wonder that Trump is fed up with Canada and thinks it should just be a State. Having said that, the Conservatives are no better. They've also adopted the "America is the enemy" stance. At the Federal level Canadians haven't been offered a real choice but they have been whipped up into a rage against Trump and therefore America. The only "right man", with any prominence in Canada now, is actually a "right woman". Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has been a voice of reason. If the Federal Conservative Party has the courage to dump Poilievre and replace him with Smith, Canadians would have a real choice. Alas, that's not going to happen until after he goes down to defeat again. If he happens to win, he won't have any more success than Carney has and relations between Canada and the US will further deteriorate. The fact fact of the matter is that Canada is looking at least three or four more years of increasing trade and economic pain.

There should be a law that requires Canadian politicians to invest only in Canadian bank GICs or Canadian government bonds. So called blind trusts would no longer be required and we wouldn't have to wonder if their interests were really aligned with ours.
