The things you say to yourself turn into structural changes in your brain. Your brain automates those thoughts and feelings, and then they feed back and convince you they're true. So knock it off. The simplest fix I know is to use your name. When that harsh voice starts up, don't ask, "Why am I like this?" Ask, "What is Lee feeling right now?" Then talk to Lee the way you'd talk to someone you love. Researchers at Michigan State and the University of Michigan tested this with EEG and brain scans. When people thought about painful things using their own name instead of "I," the brain's emotional reaction dropped within seconds. Activity went down in the medial prefrontal cortex, a hub for self-focused thinking. People said they felt less distressed. And the scans showed it took no extra mental effort. David did this in the Psalms. In Psalm 42, verse 11, he talked to himself like a friend: "Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God." That's self-brain surgery. Thoughts become things. Call yourself by name, talk to yourself like somebody who loves you, and give yourself a chance to change your mind and change your life. Save this for the next time you need a reminder to be kind to yourself. Share it with someone who needs the tip. And follow me to connect the dots between neuroscience and faith to help you navigate life and find flourishing. It is becoming f*cking dangerous: when Anthropic disclosed this, they didn't even realize they were opening a Pandora's box 1. Create a folder named SECOND BRAIN on your PC 2. Launch Claude Code inside this folder and install GWS CLI (to gain access to your Gmail, Calendar, and Drive) 3. Create a subfolder named MEMORY inside the main folder 4. Place a CLAUDE.md file in the main folder and add a rule to save all key details to the MEMORY folder 5. Install Graphify from GitHub to link your notes and build a knowledge graph 6. Install Playwright so Claude can control a web browser 7. Set up skills to merge everything into an automation executable with a single command The whole setup process takes around 20 minutes Turn Claude into your ultimate second brain, equipped with long-term memory, email and cloud access, plus full web browsing features Find the step-by-step instructions in the article below

Dr. Beverley taught the apologetics course I took when I was in seminary. He was an enthusiastic and encouraging teacher. More than that he was both a long-time family and personal friend. Last month he texted me to tell me he was going to email me with a proposal, an academic article project he wanted to collaborate on. His death is a shock, but where he is now is no surprise. Rest in peace Jim, and rise in glory.

Before you set your next goal, sit with this one first. If everything on your list got checked off this year... who else's life would actually be different because of it? Effort spent only on yourself has a ceiling. Effort spent on someone else doesn't.

Nick Saban changed the way his players studied film. Instead of 11 defenders watching the same things, each position needed its own set of answers. 10 things every position group should study on film: ↓ 🧵

Every doctor should hear this 60 seconds. Gabor Maté on the indigenous medicine wheel: health isn't one thing, it's four. Physical, mental, social, spiritual. Neglect one and the others start to fail. Modern medicine mostly treats the first one and calls it a day. Honestly, which of the four are you neglecting right now?

“Think of it as a reversal of “The Da Vinci Code.” Instead of a bestselling novel by Dan Brown that presents make-believe research to dispute the story of Jesus, a professor of religious studies has written a work of genuine scholarship that affirms Christian traditions with a new interpretation of an ancient text…” Encouraged to see a positive review by @wsj_com of @ProfTCSchmidt’s work on Jesus and Josephus. wsj.com/opinion/free-express…

Since opening in August 2023, the Tebow Spine Center in Ethiopia has performed over 390 spine procedures for children! 🙌 Through our partnership with CURE International (@cureintl), we’re grateful to have helped establish the first-ever pediatric spine center at CURE Children's Hospital of Ethiopia (@cureethiopia). An estimated 50,000 boys and girls in Ethiopia are living with severe spinal conditions and have little to no access to the medical and surgical care they need. The Tebow Spine Center provides surgical and noninvasive spinal treatments to children with life-limiting spinal deformities, without financial burden on their families. Because of you, children with severe spinal conditions now have access to the life-changing care they need! Thank you for helping bring Faith, Hope and Love to some of the world's Most Vulnerable People — the real MVPs.
