NFL punter Kasey Redfern has tragically passed away at just 35 years old following a heartbreaking three-year battle with brain cancer.
Redfern was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor and central nervous system lymphoma in 2023, undergoing years of treatment before his health deteriorated.
On September 26, his 35th birthday, his wife Lauryl shared the devastating news that he was entering hospice care after experiencing serious memory loss, falls and other complications.
“His poor brain has had all it can take treatment wise,” she wrote, explaining that the family wanted to keep him as comfortable as possible.
Redfern spent time with seven NFL organizations, including the Jaguars, Lions, Cowboys and Falcons.
He passed away on October 13, leaving behind his wife Lauryl and their two young sons, Ollie and Logan.
Rest in peace, Kasey Redfern 🙏

Well it’s about damn time. Your Democratic colleagues have been proposing elimination of the tax on groceries for years, I have been talking about it since I started my campaign, but it takes the realization of the possibility of losing the governorship and a bunch of seats in the legislature 2 weeks before the election for you guys to have an election year conversion for something that should be happened years ago while you have been in charge.
I was proud to join Pro Tem Gudger, Rep. Rex Reynolds, Rep. James Lomax, Rep. Phillip Rigsby, and Senator Sam Givhan this morning to announce our joint plan to fully eliminate Alabama’s grocery tax.
Combined with the 50% already cut over the last four years, this will put almost $500 back into the pockets of Alabamians. The bill is drafted and will be a day one priority of the 2027 Session.

The United States gave him a federal holiday anyway. Quite a welcome for a man who never arrived.

I’ll take @ellalangleymsic over Kacey Musgraves any day.
And if I’m choosin’ Texas, I’ll take Ken Paxton over James Talarico.
