As you get promoted in a corporate hierarchy it becomes clear how much tension there is between levels.
Individual contributor wants to optimize their task but a task specific optimization may not be optimal for the project as a whole. A team lead can see that.
A team lead wants more people working on their projects but other projects may be more pertinent which a manager of multiple teams will know.

Woke lost a battle but the problem of post modernism, at least with regard to information, is that there is so much of it, and it's created a rate that we can't parse.
