Pleased to have welcomed Bishop Anthony Zziwa, Bishop of Kiyinda-Mityana Diocese, to the 40th anniversary celebrations of St. Charles Lwanga Secondary School in Mubende District. Bishop Zziwa, who is the school’s Chief Spiritual Custodian, congratulated the school community on this important milestone and thanked the alumni for their continued support towards the growth and development of the institution.
I joined leaders and stakeholders at the Mityana Municipality Budget Conference, where priorities for the 2027/28 financial year were discussed. Our focus is on wealth creation, clean water and sanitation, education, health, electricity and improved road infrastructure.
I encouraged leaders, from the village level upwards, to identify the most pressing needs of our communities early enough so they can be reflected in the municipal budget. We must also improve utilisation of available government funds and strengthen cooperation between political leaders and technical teams.
As we expand local revenue, residents must be sensitised about their tax obligations and treated fairly, especially small business owners. Every shilling collected should translate into visible services and development for the people of Mityana Municipality.
I handed over 1,000 bags of fertiliser to support more than 200 smallholder tea farmers in Mityana District. This intervention will help our farmers restore their tea gardens, improve production and increase the quality of their tea.
The NRM Government continues to respond to the challenges affecting our farmers, including high input costs, declining production and unstable market prices. I thank H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the Ministry of Agriculture for ensuring that Mityana tea farmers are included in this support.
I urge our farmers to put this fertiliser to good use and our local leaders to ensure that every bag reaches the intended beneficiaries free of charge. Our focus is to support productive farming, improve household incomes and strengthen the livelihoods of our people.
We held a sensitization meeting with new Local Council Chairpersons and their executives in Mityana. The meeting focused on understanding government's guidance on Wealth creation and monitisation at the household level. Government has so many opportunities and the local level leaders need to understand these ventures in order to mobilise everyone. I thank all local leaders at the district who turned up to educate new executives.
I represented @KagutaMuseveni , at the Mothers’ Union National Exhibition. The President encouraged women to combine strong Christian values with hard work, financial discipline and productive economic activity.
His Excellency urged members to embrace commercial agriculture, industry, services and ICT, and to use programmes such as PDM and UWEP to create wealth, strengthen their families and fight poverty.
I thank everyone in Mityana Municipality who participated in today’s general cleaning exercise, especially the community leaders who mobilised and supported residents.
Let us sustain this spirit of collective responsibility as we work together for a cleaner, healthier and more beautiful Mityana.
I have come to learn with profound sadness of the passing of His Majesty Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.
His Majesty was passionate about securing affordable and decent housing for his people. During his visit to the Ministry, he personally shared this vision and expressed his desire to improve the living conditions of the people of Tooro.
On behalf of the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family, the people of Tooro, the country and all those mourning this immense loss. May His Majesty’s soul rest in eternal peace.
I addressed the Press and gave some major directives;
MANAGEMENT OF LAND DISPUTES
I have directed that all land-dispute interventions, surveys, evictions and security deployments must be lawfully authorised, coordinated and documented. Goons, self-appointed land agents and uncoordinated operations are prohibited.
ISSUANCE OF SPECIAL CERTIFICATES OF TITLE
I have suspended the routine issuance of Special Certificates of Title for three months to strengthen verification, investigate abuse and close loopholes. One parcel of land must have one legitimate title.
Yesterday, I joined the International Conference on edible insect production, where I celebrated Mityana’s women farmers for turning organic waste into livestock feed, fertiliser and sustainable household income.
With the right training, financing and markets, insect farming can create jobs, reduce animal-feed costs, strengthen nutrition and turn waste into wealth. Government, development partners and the private sector must work together to support women-led cooperatives to scale these innovations.
Last week, I joined the Real Estate Institute of East Africa (REIEA) as it commemorated 10 years of service to Uganda’s real estate and housing sector. Over the past decade, the Institute has contributed to strengthening professionalism through practical training, capacity building and promoting better understanding of key areas such as condominium development and management.
As Government, we continue to prioritise adequate, safe and affordable housing through stronger Public-Private Partnerships, high-density vertical development, slum redevelopment, low-cost housing initiatives and an improved regulatory framework. We remain committed to working with the private sector to build a professional, ethical and vibrant real estate industry that supports Uganda’s orderly urban development and economic transformation.
Congratulations to REIEA on this 10 year milestone.
I joined the Uganda Land Commission, Ministry officials, Local Government leaders and other stakeholders in Mukono for the Regional Stakeholders Engagement on Government Land Management and the development of a Comprehensive Government Land Inventory. As our towns expand and investments in roads, industries, housing and other infrastructure grow, we must ensure that Government land required for public services and future development is properly identified, documented and protected.
I called upon Local Governments and responsible officers to remain vigilant against encroachment and suspicious transactions involving public land.
Today, together with officials from the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, I held a fruitful engagement with the Buganda Kingdom on strengthening our partnership to improve land governance and service delivery. We agreed that land should no longer be viewed merely as an asset to own, but as a critical factor of production that can drive wealth creation, employment and sustainable development.
I called upon the Buganda Government to work closely with the Government of Uganda in scaling up the productive utilisation of land through programmes such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, commercial agriculture, industrial development and affordable housing. By combining Government's technical capacity with the Kingdom's extensive grassroots structures, we can secure land tenure, unlock investment, increase agricultural productivity and improve household incomes across Buganda.
I also emphasized the importance of accelerating the registration of bibanja holders, drawing on the successful experiences in Gomba and Greater Mubende, where systematic registration has strengthened tenure security, reduced conflicts and given families greater confidence to invest in their land. Together, Government and the Kingdom can transform land from a source of disputes into a foundation for prosperity, food security and inclusive economic growth.
Over the weekend, I witnessed the ordination of Priests and Deacons within Kiyinda Mityana Diocese. Job 36:11. "If they obey and serve Him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures" . I congratulate the new servants of the Lord
What a pleasant way to start off a weekend. I thank all my people in Mityana who took off time to participate in today's community clean up exercise. Our places, towns and cities are looking much smarter, and I pray that this is something we are going to carry through all the way, all the time. Mwebale nyo.
We conducted a two-day orientation with new Ministers and Technical teams at the Ministry. The purpose: to align our work with the National Development Plan IV, which prioritizes increasing household incomes, alongside other interventions in the NRM Manifesto. We renewed our commitment to service delivery, teamwork, and zero tolerance for corruption - all within the Kisanja no sleep framework of dedicated action and accountability
Uganda's housing future depends on strong partnerships. I commend Diamond Trust Bank for expanding access to mortgage finance and supporting Government's vision for affordable homeownership. Through strategic public-private partnerships, land reforms, and urban infrastructure, we can bridge our 2.4 million housing deficit and build inclusive, resilient cities for all.
As Uganda's towns and cities continue to grow, sustainable urbanisation is no longer an option but a necessity.
Today, we launched the Leadership Meeting of the Sustainable Urbanisation & Housing Programme, reaffirming our commitment to stronger coordination, orderly urban growth, secure land rights, decent housing and resilient infrastructure that improves the lives of all Ugandans.
Together, we will build inclusive, productive and liveable cities that drive Uganda's socio-economic transformation.
From the battlefield to the halls of Parliament, Gen. Moses Ali gave his all in service to the nation, inspiring countless Ugandans with his humility, integrity, and steadfast commitment to peace and development. His remarkable legacy of sacrifice and leadership will continue to light the path for future generations. I extend my heartfelt condolences to His Excellency @KagutaMuseveni the family of the late Gen. Moses Ali, the people of Adjumani, colleagues in Government, and all Ugandans grieving this great loss. May Allah (SWT), in His infinite mercy, forgive his shortcomings, grant him Jannatul Firdaus, and comfort his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Ameen
A land title is not enough to secure your interests. While launching the Estate Planning Association, I told a cross section of stakeholders that it is equally important to update land records regularly, register property and embrace estate planning to prevent disputes, protect family wealth and secure a lasting legacy for future generations. Proper succession planning is not a one off. It is a combination of key steps that need to be done to have all your interests covered.
