On Juneteenth, we celebrate Black joy, Black history, Black brilliance, and Black emancipation.
We honor our ancestors whose resistance and sacrifice made this day possible, and we thank today’s freedom fighters who carry forward their legacy.

Happy Juneteenth! On this day in 1865, the last slaves in Galveston, Texas were finally freed.
This day is a celebration of the resilience and strength of our ancestors, and a reminder of the work we still have to do to create the future they dreamed of.

#Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom—and a reminder that justice delayed is still justice denied. We honor the resilience of those who waited years to learn of liberation. And we recommit to fighting for the freedoms still being denied today.

.@KamalaHarris: “America is a promise –– a promise of freedom, liberty, and justice. The story of Juneteenth, as we celebrate it, is the story of our ongoing fight to realize America’s promise: not for some, but for all.”

Juneteenth is a powerful reminder of how far we’ve come—and how much further we still have to go.
It marks the moment freedom finally reached our people right here in Texas. Our people took what was withheld and built something powerful: resilience, pride, and a legacy we carry to this day.
We remember those who fought to get us here, and we stay in the fight to make sure nobody’s left behind.
Happy Juneteenth, y’all.

#OnThisDay in 1865, General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, TX to read Order No. 3, which affirmed the end of slavery in the states of the former Confederacy. This momentous occasion has been celebrated as #Juneteenth — a combination of “June” & “19th” — for over 150 years.
