Today it has been reported that during our first round of action in England mortality rate was 11.1% above the 5 year average.
What they haven’t reported was that in Wales, where no strike action took place, mortality rate was 14% above the 5 year average. 1/3

After an initial meeting with Michael Matheson, I can confirm that @BMAScotland has agreed to enter formal pay negotiations for Junior Doctors with the Scottish Government
Our strike ballot remains open & will close on 5th May. Returning your ballot has never been more important
Health Secretary @MathesonMichael met with Dr Chris Smith of @BMAScotland and committed to progressing pay negotiations with junior doctors. We will move forward and agree on dates for negotiations to start soon.

Solidarity to all the junior doctors who made the difficult but necessary decision to strike. It comes down to this. When I qualified as a doctor, I was paid 25% more in real terms than they are today. (And I was at least 25% worse.) This isn't a pay rise, this is pay restoration
