NEW: Multiple federal sources confirm to @FoxNews that the suspect arrested for using a sledgehammer to behead a WW2 Iwo Jima monument in Quantico, VA on Tuesday is a Mexican illegal alien & former DACA recipient whose legal status expired this year.
Miguel Alonso Maldonado Soriano has now been charged with felony destruction of property and trespass with intent to damage property.
Per federal sources, Soriano illegally crossed into the U.S. in December 1999. He was granted DACA by the Obama administration in 2014 and had it extended for years, most recently by the Biden admin in 2024, but he lost his DACA status in August of this year when it wasn’t renewed by the Trump administration.

This morning, two former senior FBI officials, Nikki Floris, 46, and Bradley Benavides, 56, surrendered on arrest warrants after being charged with lying to Congress about their roles on the Foreign Influence Task Force during the 2020 election. Floris and Benavides allegedly lied to Congress about their roles in the FBI’s Hunter Biden investigations, with one claiming they only learned about it from Wikipedia - despite evidence showing their involvement in helping shape the public narrative about Hunter Biden’s laptop right before the election.
Lying to Congress by anyone strikes at the heart of our democratic system, but when senior FBI agents lie to Congress believing they are above the law, it’s time to bring the hammer of justice down on them. When senior officials entrusted with safeguarding our nation’s security choose deception over duty, they undermine the very institutions they swore to uphold.
Today’s action makes clear that no one is above the law, and we will hold accountable all who obstruct the truth.

Thank you to @seanmdav and his team for running this article on an issue that goes to the heart of the democratic process.
I have to admit that until a few months ago, I was rather naive about the extent of this problem. Then I launched the Counterlawfare Institute and began hearing from people who wanted to know whether they could donate without leaving a record. Short of sending cash, which I would not recommend, that is difficult to do.
The reality is that conservative donors and organizations are operating at an enormous disadvantage when it comes to fundraising. After years of being targeted, investigated, harassed, and intimidated, people are understandably afraid that supporting a conservative cause could somehow come back and be used against them.
And the more I think about it, the more convinced I am that this is one of the intended purposes of lawfare. I don't have an easy answer to this problem, but I can tell you from firsthand experience that it is very real.
