Find a copy of “You Are Not Human” by Simon Lancaster - @bespokespeeches - it’s an incredible book. Dehumanisation through use of language is at its core. Was tempted to double down on his work with a closer look at language in war for the MA diss (but was told no, so 🤷♀️).

Well done! I was an Associate Editor for a new journal and at the end of the year meeting, the only paper published that year that had NOT been cited was mine. “Good grief”, the Editor groaned, “Haven’t you learned to cite yourself!?!” 😂 I’m better at it now! – at Seattle, WA

Unfortunately very few. Being journal editor is a major job! One should know the literature well, question all exaggerated statements, not accept verbal promotion and “forward looking” statements, spend significant time with a paper, be fair and acknowledge COI.
