Nothing I write starts with the thought, "Oh, I can SELL that." (Though, that may explain a lot.) Whether short fiction, nonfiction, or even poetry, they all begin something I'd like to read. And I hope you might, too. Find my books on Amazon or TikTok Shop (links in reply)

With #VisionQuest and, now, #Cupertino, there's a lot of stories about synthetic intelligences on TV Right now. Which is why it's worth sharing my recently re-published retrospective about #PersonOfInterest, one of the best tech-based sci-fi shows ever. cbr.com/jj-abrams-person-of-…

If you think this show didn't like Rorschach as a guy, wait until you find out what Alan Moore thinks of his deeply problematic ass. Hashtag Rorschach was NOT a hero
Watchmen (2019) frustrates me to no end in the same way The Boys does. It had endless potential to be one of THE defining pieces of TV. But all of that meant nothing when the show was built purley out of spite for, in this case, Rorschach and fans of Rorschachs character.

She's adorable. 😂🤍
There is a lot I loved about #VisionQuest's first two episodes, but this @emilyhampshire bit legitimately made me laugh out loud very hard when she dropped down out of nowhere. 😙👌

One thing that irks me about some #VisionQuest reviews is when critics conflate synthetic lifeforms with modern natural language processing chatbots because their techbro founders call them "A.I." If the story doesn't go full SkyNet, they think it's some kind of weird endorsement

It's a bummer that after all the success of the #MCU and the #DCU and #TheBoys et al. out there, it still (Dangerfield voice) gets no respect. Certain critics think it's still dumb shit for nerds, abandoning critical thought. They punish it because it's successful and accessible.

At least it's still "Certified Fresh," which means that most critics get it. But it bums me out about the state of criticism as a profession/art form that so many take this elitist position while also thinking so very, very small. xitter.cf/TerryMatalas/status/21…

More from my interview with #ToyStory5's Jason Katz. In this piece, we talk about why there have been some pretty good #Pixar movie ideas we've NEVER seen. An interesting look at the storytelling process cbr.com/pixar-movie-ideas-sh…

So, we've done a lot of TV and Movie criticism over at Fandom Rising, but of course comics are on the radar, too. Check out this review of the first #MarvelMidnight title, and let us know at the site which comics you want to see covered! fandomrising.com/2026/10/11/…

I have nothing but disdain for the deeply cynical and even more deeply racist HP Lovecraft, but Abbott and Costello meeting Cthulhu is a HILARIOUS premise.

Reviews are all just we writers' opinions, and they are all usually valid. When weighing them, though, one should look to how well a critic clocks the specific narrative details. If one thinks Tommy was Evan Peters' WV character not Vision's son, then yeah this show plays WEIRD.
REVIEW: Marvel’s “VisionQuest,” like its protagonist, struggles to connect emotionally. “The show plays with some clever concepts, particularly in its visual presentation,” writes Variety’s Alison Herman. “But this imagery is larded with so much convoluted backstory and abstract concepts that ‘VisionQuest’ ends up in the exact same predicament as Vision himself, a synthetic being trying and mostly failing to connect with his emotions.” wp.me/pc8uak-1lHWpm

Though, I'd never write about actors' bodies negatively to describe a character like this. That's firmly in the "not cool" column for me. But everything else in this review is like mine for CBR. To give YOU context about whether YOU might like it or not. Anyway, be kind MCU fans.

Also, just adding the stealth-editing (without a notation at the bottom) to correct that part of the introduction is a bit of a journalistic party-foul for things that aren't simple typos.

My in-depth but spoiler-free review of #VisionQuest! @TerryMatalas & collaborators have achieved something truly special, and it is the peak of the kind of storytelling the #MCU makes possible. It is beautiful, sad, hopeful, funny, and action-packed. cbr.com/visionquest-review/
