Narrator: “But there was room for violence.”

You can have Alzheimer's for 15 years and not know it. We can finally slow it down. But only if we catch it early. So we built the earliest test for it. Saccade (YC F26)

Killer founder/team
I’m hiring a Chief of Staff at @fw_automation For 2 years you’ll work with me across the company, then move into a senior role in biz ops or finance The right person is highly organized, self-motivated, hungry, and comfortable keeping many things moving at once. CoS, banking, or staffer backgrounds are likely fits

“US needs more hardcore deep tech early stage funds”
To me this whole saga is more a testament to how venture capital is far too tech risk averse and fundamentally failing at backing companies that it was originally designed to help hyperstition; early stage hardcore deep tech. US needs more hardcore deep tech early stage funds

END OF AN ERA My time at Valar Atomics has come to an end after three Providential years of incredibly meaningful work. It’s been the honor of a lifetime to build business ops at Valar from scratch, to foster the growth and to shape the culture of such an important institution.

Your email finds me taxiing off a godforsaken runway at night, unmoored from any time zone, wrangling members of the top and bottom 1%, five weeks into a four day trip.
Your email finds me pacing in tecova boots I haven’t taken off in 20 hours in a cold, glaringly bright warehouse wearing whatever clothes I could buy at the airport talking to drone operators about how to expedite shipment of their materiel to the cloud seeding front lines

Immediately after @SECWAR State of the Force speech, Project Meridian held its inaugural meeting with @elonmusk @newtgingrich and @PalmerLuckey. And today, the full board met at the Pentagon for the second meeting.

The complex (simple?) truth is that, ultimately, the “moat” of a company is the Company itself. Every advantage, every ounce of talent, every providential or serendipitous moment, every “friend of a friend” and extra hour worked and ability to blast through closed doors—everything compounding into a machine for victory that cannot be replicated by anyone else.
Been thinking the term “moat” in venture needs to be reconfigured to mean: what gets harder for a competitor every time you get better? Patents, proprietary tech, stacked team is great but those are assets. Explain how they compound into an advantage someone with more money can’t easily buy. I care about the ugly shit in hard tech. Every production run improves yield, each deployment teaches you something couldn’t learn in a lab, qualification gets you into a program that takes competitors years to enter, unit shipped lowers your cost and makes next sale easier. That’s where a moat starts getting interesting. Difficult to build will get you a head start. Question is whether that head start keeps widening once others decide market is worth pursuing. Favorite moat is when a competitor can copy the product but not economics. Can build what you built, but can’t deliver it at your cost, quality, reliability, timeline. Show why catching you gets harder with every unit you ship.

This has been just one of my theses for the past 4 years (Valar - Antares - Bluecore - General Matter - Terminus - Resolute Grid - American Turbines - Base Power - Ouros) and it is just now picking up speed. Nice to see the Goldman guys catching up. Lots to do.

The admin’s decisions are calculated to produce VICTORY. To shape the country into a machine that produces wins. The left pumps wealth out of the country and the third world in because they are fundamentally motivated by “making things fair” which is only a child’s way of saying “envy.”

Another variation: “you didn’t beat me, I did.”
An enormous number of people set out to do things with defeat already in their hearts. “If this doesn’t work out, I’ll do this or that.” You win by winning and wanting to win.

The. Empire. Hasn’t. Even. Started. Yet.
such a silly take. the state of american manufacturing before ww2 was a mess. the curse of reading a bunch of history is that few others have. just watch the USA over the next 5, 10 and 15 years. the empire hasn’t even started yet

There is, of course, a class of investor who are almost exclusively interested in the “moral implications [of their companies]” and my DM’s are open.
If your position as an investor is that you should have no point of view on the moral implications of your companies’ actions, then you are just a coward. “Founder friendliness” has been cover for cowardice for a good decade now. Enough.
