Big Tech is bullying, bribing, and suing communities to steamroll their AI data centers into places that don't want them. Big Tech is an existential threat to community self-determination and democracy in America.

Reminder that we have no effective methane policy at the national level, but states can do it. Widely-cited estimates of methane pollution dramatically undercount emissions.
A strong methane win for states. 🤝 Colorado has fully adopted methane standards under the 2024 EPA rule, a great opportunity to quickly reduce emissions and an encouraging sign for other states to follow. More from EDF's Jon Goldstein. ⬇️

In the Dominion-NextEra merger case, Clean Virginia asked for a memo detailing an investigation into alleged illegal political activity by a subsidiary of NextEra Energy. Dominion said that it wasn't relevant to the merger. A hearing examiner disagreed. utilitydive.com/news/virgini…

There are a bunch of specific things I like about our permitting bill, beyond the big important stuff — that it will lower electric costs and emissions, and lift wind, solar and battery power (BIG lift for battery), and add LOTS of good jobs.🧵

"This year, 93% of new electricity capacity is expected to come from solar, wind and batteries. That is not because of any president. It is because clean energy is the cheapest way to add electricity to the grid." @leahstokes for @livescience: livescience.com/planet-earth…

We’re starting to dig into the deal at Heatmap. Under the new bipartisan permitting deal, AI and crypto data centers would have to report their energy use to the federal government for the first time. This is already required for other large energy users.

Today we saw text of the Senate permitting bill. It's been 4 years since we passed the IRA. Since then, it's clear our ancient grid is keeping us from decarbonizing. This bill's transmission title takes a big step to fix that. Here's an explainer for all the non-energy heads.
