Last night, @higgsfield sent @ComfyUI a cease and desist (attached) They want the Open Source Higgsfield challenge taken down within 48 hours. Their argument is that our use of the Higgsfield name and that using their CEO's likeness is an infringement violation (man, the irony). Claiming that it makes the event look like Higgsfield is associated with it. This couldn't be farther from the truth, which is that Higgsfield made a promise to open source its product and never did. For the past two weeks, builders have been recreating popular closed apps as open workflows anyone can run. So we asked our community to deliver where Higgsfield failed: apps in the open, built by the community, for the community. We've made it clear that the challenge is organized by ComfyUI and not affiliated with or endorsed by Higgsfield. When we started Comfy, we made the community a promise. Our product stays open, free, and yours. We’ve kept it every day since, and one letter isn’t going to change that. The challenge stays up. Comfy and open source will win!

The tech industry is more entertaining than the entertainment industry.
An OpenAI employee wrapped a recording device in toilet paper and hid it behind the TV in the exec boardroom. OpenAI found it, left the room untouched, and hid a camera behind the same TV. Then they waited for him to come back and check on his bug. He did. The guy joined OpenAI's product team in July 2025. Prosecutors say the device was plugged into a USB port on the back of the television, installed about two days before security found it. The room was used by executives, and the FBI director says the goal was capturing conversations about the company's "super intelligence technology." Here's the detail from the complaint that got me. Prosecutors say he submitted AI prompts about building, customizing, obfuscating, and remote-accessing a continuous audio recorder. He allegedly used AI to engineer the bug he planted inside the world's most famous AI company. And OpenAI says it used its own models to trace the device back to him. While the FBI built its case, OpenAI quietly restricted his access and put him on leave instead of tipping him off. A second package arrived on October 5. Security opened it and found another recording device. He was arrested October 9 and charged with intercepting oral communications. This tells you where the real secrets live now. Model weights sit behind some of the heaviest security in tech. Source code is locked down. Customer data gets audited. So the attack went after the one thing nobody can encrypt, which is executives talking out loud in a room. Frontier labs spent three years hardening servers against nation states. The cheapest way in turned out to be a recorder wrapped in toilet paper, pointed at a room where people speak freely.

This is just stupid. At least Trump’s suggestion makes sense.
I just signed an executive order permanently declaring Artificial Intelligence “Artificial Intelligence” in California. You’re welcome, America.

.@GoldmanSachs estimates humanoid robotics could become a $138 billion market, with warehouse and logistics being the killer app. But what sits inside the brain of a humanoid and where is it going to get the power it needs? Spoiler: if you love robots, you should love data centres too, and if you’re bullish on AI, robotics may be one of the biggest opportunities that AI infrastructure ultimately powers.

Wisdom comes with age? I don’t get the math. If we live to 500 years old, then are 80 year olds no longer wise? Or is wisdom more about overall life experiences? If so, that’s not tied to age. Maybe wisdom should mean “wise for their time” AGI may force us to redefine words.

AI lowers the cost of creating → more people can become entrepreneurs → physical-world regulation remains the bottleneck.

Even if AI didn’t want to kill us all, talking about it on the news sure does give AI some ideas. AI is being trained on all of this media, including news clips like this one. Humans may have to start communicating offline.
