Maryland beats Bucknell 96-67. It took Maryland 15ish mins to find their groove but they controlled things from there. The Terps dominated the glass, outrebounding the Bison 54-22 & grabbing 28 ORebs, the team’s most in a game since 2/22/05. Andre Mills led UMD w/ 22 pts, 11 rebs
Back in College Park for another season opener as Maryland hosts Bucknell. The Terps are coming off their worst season since 1989 but a revamped roster brings expectations of a return to the NCAA Tournament. Meanwhile the Bison were picked 6th in the Patriot League preseason poll
Every 4 star in the 2025 @247Sports composite who redshirted last college basketball season (no 5 stars redshirted):
35. Sebastian Wilkins - Duke
49. Billy White III - SMU
51. Tylis Jordan - Georgia Tech (Ole Miss transfer)
63. John Clark - Texas
Every player listed except Xzavion Mitchell & Jaylen Harrell played 0 minutes last year. I mostly avoided medical redshirts for this w/ the adoption of 5-for-5 but Iowa State & Washington State explicitly list Mitchell & Harrell as redshirt freshmen whereas others aren’t as clear
Commitment status of the @247Sports composite top 200 with 30 days until the basketball early signing period opens
0 of the top 10 committed
12 of the top 25 committed
31 of the top 50 committed
64 of the top 100 committed
88 of the top 150 committed
112 of the top 200 committed
Yesterday marked 3 months until basketball’s early signing period starts & the commitment slowdown I’ve tracked for years is leveling off. Per the @247Sports composite, 13 of the top 50, 25 of the top 100 & 38 of the top 200 recruits are currently committed for the Class of 2027
This is the first time in 5 years doing this exercise that the number of top 100 & 200 commits by this point has risen year over year. Last year only 45 top 100 & 99 top 200 guys were committed now. There’s also more top 100 commits at this point than 2 years ago but not top 200
Chris Sale. Cristopher Sánchez. Two teams in the thick of a playoff race. This is what September baseball is all about.

This year’s recruiting cycle is moving even slower. Today marks 3 months until the end of the basketball early signing period & only 4 members of the @247Sports composite top 50 for the Class of 2026 are committed rn, while just 12 of the top 100 & 37 of the top 200 are committed

I’m curious how the 2nd round plays out. There are some cool role player bets I like but the talent curve drops quite a bit towards the end & there’s little consensus on the few existing stash candidates so think things could get weird late w/ even more agent posturing than usual
