Power outages are rapidly increasing in numbers across Alabama and Florida ahead of Hurricane Isaias...
Powers out from Hurricane Isaias. I live in south Alabama, about 15 mins from the Gulf. Rivian R2 is powering our fridge, lamps, router, and phone chargers. Only pulling 138w of the 1900w capacity.
Charged to 100% earlier.
“He expects "certainly less than the number of fingers on a hand" of companies to reach high autonomy, and thinks that brings "persistent pricing power"”
@Hilbe Might be onto something 👀
Highlights from RJ at the Morgan Stanley Laguna conference today. The second shift is on track for the end of this month and suppliers, not the plant, still set the pace of the ramp.
• He drew the contrast with Model 3 directly: "when we saw Tesla go through this similar inflection point with Model 3, in their case, their constraint was initially in the plant," whereas "our plant is out pretty far in front of where we are from a supply-based point of view"
• The challenges usually sit further up the supply chain, "often not the tier 1s" but "the tier 2s and tier 3s," and he says they know which ones: "we know exactly who they are. We know what the issues are. We have people on site"
• The second shift was sequenced around supplier readiness: "We wanted to coordinate that really tightly with the ramp-up of the supply chain. That's been choreographed really nicely"
• Launch Edition conversion hasn't changed since the Q2 call and is still running hot: "That conversion has been higher for this early batch than what we expected"
• Autonomy & AI Day coming "near the end of this year," date TBA, which RJ called "an anchor point to then roll out some of these new features"
• He expects "certainly less than the number of fingers on a hand" of companies to reach high autonomy, and thinks that brings "persistent pricing power"

Wanna give a big thank you to @RivianTrackr for 3D printing & shipping me this awesome J1772 & CCS to NACS adapter holder!
R2 has such a split personality when it comes to efficiency. In the city it routinely matches my Model Y RWDs efficiency. Then on the highway its closer to a Cybertruck.
For my Tesla peeps, 4.14 Mi/kWh is 241 Wh/Mi.
Woulda been fine with PPF

Final Update: 2026.24.41 fixed all my software issues! Cameras are butter smooth now and microphone works great. Subwoofer replacement still holding strong. Car feels completely dialed in now. Extremely happy! @RivianTrackr @SP_LimitReviews @Hilbe
Update 3:
Rivian contacted me yesterday and said they replaced my subwoofer and that the camera & microphone issues are a firmware issue that will be fixed in a future update.
Picked it up today & am road tripping it home now.
Meet Baymax 🤍
Glad to have it back!
Update 2:
Rivian messaged me yesterday promising to call me today with what their diagnostics found how long to fix.
They just called and basically said a lot of words to basically say that they still have no idea what’s causing the problem or what parts are needed. 🫠
Update:
All features in the Obstacle Avoidance settings including Blind Spot View appear to be having issues, so this is likely a hardware issue (maybe ECU/Module) and not software. Subwoofer issue remains.
Rivian is towing the vehicle to and from the Atlanta Service Center.
