After 10+ years as a #caregiver to my dad who battled #Parkinsons and many months #writing and revising, I’m excited to share that Every Step Is a Gift has been published.
I’m so very grateful for the support and encouragement to find my voice on a painful but empowering story.
In my 4,000+ mile bike ride across the U.S., I can confidently say that Wyoming was the state in which I felt least welcome.
I hope to return proudly driving an EV with out-of-state plates one day.
Again, @davekarpf is dead on: "Silicon Valley’s best minds are thinking about AI, blockchain, & the Metaverse. The climate crisis, it seems, is Someone Else’s Problem."

Everyone wants to build, no one wants to maintain (let alone fix).

Last 11 DC bike fatalities:
1. Cyclist with ROW was hit by truck that turned right into her path
Why didn’t @DCPoliceDept outline the wheels of the bike that Shawn O’Donnell rode as she was killed?
Investigators only outlined the location of the wheels of the Ernest Maier cement truck that ran her over.
#bikeDC
Drivers kill people on bikes, not vehicles.
An Ernest Maier cement truck driver killed Shawn O’Donnell yesterday. Thank you, @jas_hilton, for writing that.
I will continue taking up as much space as I can on the road in your honor, Shawn. #bikeDC

A reminder, yet again, that #bikeDC riders risk our lives every time we take to the street.
Greeted by a mangled bike under a cement truck wheel at 21st and I NW this AM arriving on campus.
Came back later to see forensics on site. Really hoping for reporting and justice.
I worry that would-be-Dem votes sit out of elections because they know the system is designed to give Republicans an advantage. The Senate, Electoral College, and lottery of the Supreme Court work in GOP favor.
It’s been proven over and over that majority will doesn’t matter.
Zero faith in government to protect our safety, our health, and our climate at this point. Wildly disappointing.
Not sure why I even glance at social media on days like this. It all feels like yelling into the void. Tons of wasted energy here.
Couldn't be more excited about this partnership. Congratulations to the @ClimateRide team and community of riders, donors, and 100+ beneficiaries. The next five years will be huge!
@StaciW_DC, see you and #algofam on the road/trail for upcoming #climateride events!
We're excited to announce our partnership with @ClimateRide. This initiative will see us commit $15M over 5 years by matching funds raised by #ClimateRide participants & contributing $500K annually for program expansion. #GreenCrypto #ShapeTheFuture

“How are you passing the mic?” asks @MattScottGW of @ProjectDrawdown at #PFSummit22. “Those most vulnerable to #climatechange are also those that tend to be underrepresented in climate dialogue and solutions.”
Need more of this energy in #ClimateAction work.
These @washingtonpost headlines are offensive.
What’s next? “Bullet enters person’s skull?” “Knife slices through person’s arm?”
Patel was murdered by a driver who used a car as a deadly weapon. Say that. Please.

The trend isn’t new. @postlocal, why not adjust your coverage?
Replying to @DavidZipper
This is not a one-off blunder by @postlocal.
According to the Post, responsibility lies with the vehicle when a pedestrian is struck and killed -- and not with the driver sitting behind the wheel.
Shocked that DC’s pivot on #COVID #testing strategy isn’t a bigger story.
Yes, DC is most “vulnerable” city in U.S. right now, but is leading on distribution of at-home antigen test kits. 108,000 have been distributed so far.

DC hands out 30,000+ #COVID at-home test kits last week.
We then see 9,200 new cases over the last four days (10+% of all of DC’s cases since March 2020).
Yes, Omicron is contagious, but the lesson for me is that we have been so wildly under-testing since day one. – at Washington, DC
As an ultrarunner and (very) novice pickleballer, I sincerely appreciate this.
Also, I’m realizing yet again that my obsession with “fringe” sports continues. See Dance Dance Revolution, ultimate frisbee, parkour, etc. 😎 – at Washington, DC

DC COVID-19 testing sites will be closed Friday, December 24th and Saturday, December 25th.
Sites will open again on Sunday, December 26th.

One of the most frustrating trends in local media coverage, IMHO.

.@DCist should give @washingtonpost a training on how to write about car crashes.
