There's a lot of speculation as to why the NDP won in Calgary Shaw. I suspect it's partly due to changing demographics, and partly due to Conservatives being lazy. In my area and in my 25 years here, I have had ONE Conservative come to my door during an election. But I have NDP etc. come to my door all the time. They work real hard to get into power, then they drive up debt and chase investment. That's one problem that I see. Did the referendum question irk some people? That's likely, but it's also just as likely that not running a separatist candidate irked others. One thing is obvious though, with the latest elections in Alberta, is that Conservatives can no longer take votes for granted, and we are not immune to the socialist/communist surge in North America. Alberta will not remain Alberta just because it's Alberta. We have the fight of our lives on our hands here. Alberta's identity isn't some permanent shield. Demographics are shifting, young people are getting squeezed, and that leftward pull is real. If we don't fight hard to show them why the free stuff trap makes things worse, Alberta won't stay Alberta. It's a battle for the next generation's minds. Alberta survives and does relatively well in spite of living in a growing socialist hellhole. But if you're young, don't have the opportunities your parents did, you can't afford rent or groceries, it's not about politics, it's about survival. Who can blame them for taking the free stuff? Free stuff wins a lot of votes, and it's our job to educate people as to why that's a really, really bad idea. The NDP offers candy, while the Conservatives offer broccoli, and there's a huge number of people that will choose candy until their teeth fall out. This is what youth needs to know... Broccoli might be boring, but you live longer.

We must never let Alberta go back to the deficits, the tax hikes and the job losses we lived through under the NDP. Our UCP government is proud to deliver on our commitments, including: ✅ Record funding for health care and education ✅ Lower taxes for every Albertan ✅ $1500 back in the pocket of every family ✅ Doubled the Heritage Savings Trust Fund ✅ 5 Years of Balanced Budgets Calgary-Shaw, the by-election is tomorrow Monday, September 14. Get out and vote for Mike Derry. Find out how to vote here: unitedconservative.ca/mike-d…

Even the U.S. is realizing Canada has gone off the deep end and is starting to pose a risk to itself and others.

If you have a degree from a fancy University, but believe: Money printing doesn’t cause inflation; Net-zero policies create prosperity ; Governments can pick winners and losers better than free markets; Then you have been badly educated. Remember, lots of world leaders with impressive degrees have inflicted great harm on their countries. Carney’s diplomas can’t cover up the fact he had a terrible tenure at the Bank of England. Or that he is giving Canada the worst economy in the G7.

Pierre hasn’t lost 1 vote since the election Brian. He’s lost the seat count but not the voters. The voters have been cheated out of their vote. Pierre has no reason to lose sleep tonight. 56.24% of Canadians (representing the majority) did not vote for the Carny Liberals & have been disenfranchised. Mark Carney does not have a majority mandate Canadians are furious to see our election results manipulated in a manner that will impact our democracy. Donald Trump may have ignited a fire 🔥 but Mark Carney has focused all of his energy into ballooning the opportunity into an out of control firestorm to gain personal power through manipulation and negativity. He is not a leader and the majority of Canadians did not vote for him to lead us.
Mark Carney will head to bed tonight knowing he has a majority and Pierre Poilievre will feel increasing pressure as his position weakens. The man pushing all of this, stirring the Canadian political waters and shaping our future doesn't even live here. torontosun.com/opinion/colum…

Paul Skenes pitched another gem yesterday. Skenes' first two years in the MLB have been beyond impressive, but Dwight Gooden's first two seasons remain the standard.

Brad Marchand in 2018: “I was never the best kid on my team — anyone will tell you that. My buddies were better players. As we got older, they were getting all the attention from the junior teams. I’ll never forget, when we were 12 years old our coach gave this speech in the locker room before a game, and he said, ‘There’s thousands of kids like you in Canada. There’s thousands more all over the world. You know what the statistics say? The statistics say that only 0.01% of you will make it to the NHL.’ I just always remembered that stat, and I would think to myself, ‘Man, if I’m not even the best kid on my pee-wee team … there’s no chance. How could I ever get noticed?’ That same pee-wee season, something else happened that took my mindset a step further. We were playing against our rivals, Cole Harbor, in some important game, and they had this monster forward on their team who always killed us. During the game, the kid took a run at my brother, and he smoked him. For as much as we’d mess with one another at home, if you ever hurt my brother, it was like a red light went off inside me. I’d fight you. So we went out, and every time the kid touched the puck, one of us took a run. He got so pissed off that he took a slashing penalty right at the end of his shift, and we got a power play. We ended up scoring the game-winning goal with him in the box, and I had this realization like, ‘OK … if I have a 0.01% chance, this might be one way of getting people to notice me.’ I have done things that have stepped over that line, and I’ve paid the price for it.... There’s a lot of people out there in the hockey world who love to say, ‘Winning is everything. It’s the only thing.’ Do they really mean it? How far are they willing to go? Maybe it was my size, or just the way I was born, but I’ve always felt like you have to be willing to do anything — literally anything — in order to win. Even if that means being hated. Even if it means carrying around some baggage. If I played the game any other way, you absolutely would not know my name. You wouldn’t care enough to hate me, because I wouldn’t be in the NHL.” playerstribu.ne/Marchand

It's time for an honest, uncomfortable conversation. Is hockey in a more perilous position on the sports landscape than we're ready to acknowledge? The numbers are not pretty. Where do we go from here? This Thanksgiving, thoughts and reflection: dailyfaceoff.com/news/soundi…
